Welcome
Welcome to the first System Design & Management alumni newsletter of 2016! I'm Naomi Gutierrez, SDM's career development and alumni associate. I’m excited to get to know those of you I haven’t already met, to hear and share your stories, and to help you connect with each other as well as with current SDM students.
Alumni Survey
In order to better serve our alums, we’ve set up a survey on SDM's communications and networking efforts. The survey should take less than 10 minutes. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts. Please share this survey link with any alums you know who might not be otherwise learn about it.
Students present their project at the SDM Core Residency Week
SDM Core—January Residency Recap
Space trash was gathered, trucks and trailers were hitched, and the future of public transit was addressed this year during SDM's core residency session, which took place during MIT's Independent Activities Period in January. The students in ESD.412 Foundations of System Design and Management II returned to a chilly Cambridge campus January 11–15 for an intensive week of lectures, workshops, and presentations. The week included a full day at the MIT Media Lab with project pitches, teamwork on spring-term projects, and a final day of presentations on January 15.

Keep in Touch!
This newsletter is shifting to a quarterly schedule. However, there are a number of ways you can stay in touch with us, your fellow SDM alums, and current students:
  • The Virtual Community, or VC, is our hub for current and graduated student information. You may log in any time to update your personal profile, search for SDM community members in your area, or check out program resources.
  • The SDM alumni website posts information and news articles about alumni activities.
  • In addition to our main email list, we also have regional lists for the Boston and San Francisco Bay areas. If you’d like to be added to those lists, please contact me at ngg@mit.edu
  • SDM has two LinkedIn groups for current students and alumni. The MIT System Design and Management Forum is for anybody connected to SDM or interested in systems thinking. The MIT System Design and Management Alumni group is for SDM alumni only. If you’re not already connected with us on LinkedIn, please join the groups and join the conversation!
