Hello colleagues! June is Bob's last month as the Vice Provost for Research Administration. We will miss him so much! But, we are so happy for him as he takes a well-deserved break before he rejoins the faculty ranks. Thank you for everything, Bob!

| International Visitors
International persons (non-US citizens) coming to campus are reviewed by the Office of Research Compliance and Integrity (ORCI) to ensure the university abides by export control regulations. Please complete this form BEFORE an invitation is extended to the visitor. To ensure adequate review time by the ORCI, this form should be submitted at least five business days in advance of the visit. Please contact the ORCI with any questions (rci@gvsu.edu; 616-331-3197).

Q: I'm working with an outside collaborator on a human subjects research project. Do we both need to submit IRB applications?
A: Most likely, no. Most universities, including GVSU, are often willing to "rely" on another IRB's decision. GVSU can serve as either the reviewing IRB (i.e., the IRB making the initial determination/approval) or the relying IRB (i.e., the IRB accepting the reviewing IRB's decision). For more information about reliances, including how to request one, please visit the IRB Reliances website.

| Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program
Are you considering a submission to the National Science Foundation's Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program this fall? GVSU can submit a total of four proposals to this program each year (including proposals where GVSU is a subaward to another institution), so OSP will be running a limited submission process this summer. Stay tuned for news about that, and in the meantime, if you have any questions about this program, please reach out to Grants and Contracts Specialist Marsely Kehoe.
