Celebrating SW Hope Community Food Drive |
The SW Hope Community Food Drive was a great success this year, thanks to so many ways people came together to fill the Free Food Market.
Together, you helped raise almost $60,000 and brought in 22,978 pounds of food - wow! We are so grateful to the many faith partners across SW Portland, Scout troops, businesses, restaurants, walkers and runners who all contributed to supporting neighbors in need.
Thank you!

The ever-popular Empty Bowls event sold out of soup in less than 36 hours and brought in almost $6000.

The SW Hope 5K Run/Walk is a wonderful family event for all ages.

| Happy 100th Birthday, Leonor! |
On April 24th, we had the joy and honor of celebrating a truly special milestone—Leonor Lewis’ 100th birthday!
A longtime member and dedicated volunteer at our Senior Center, Leonor has been a cherished part of the Neighborhood House community for many years. Her celebration at the Senior Center was filled with laughter, cake, stories, and an abundance of love from friends and neighbors.

Thank you, Leonor, for everything you’ve given to this community and for being exactly who you are. Here's to a century of memories—and many more still to come!

Barbur World Foods Helps Nourish Our Diverse Community |
Normally we rely on the Oregon Food Bank for most of the fresh and frozen meat offered through our Free Food Market. But with recent funding cuts to OFB, we're having to buy more food from stores, which usually means higher prices.
Thankfully, Barbur World Foods has stepped in to help.
Barbur World Foods generously provides a 20% discount on a wide variety of halal meats—allowing us to purchase around 80 pounds of meat monthly. That's enough to support 30 families! This is not only a significant financial contribution, but also a meaningful act of cultural care.
| Neighborhood House is committed to ensuring that the people we serve receive not only an abundance of food, but food that reflects and respects their diverse backgrounds.
The discount from Barbur World Foods is vital in helping us fulfill that mission.
A thoughtful volunteer made this connection, for which we are very grateful.

Celebrating Earth Day in Community |
This Earth Day was bursting with activity, energy, and community spirit at Neighborhood House!
We hosted our annual Seed Giveaway during the Multnomah Village Earth Day Celebration—an inspiring day of sharing seeds, stories, and gardening wisdom with neighbors of all ages. Thank you to Dennis’ 7 Dees, Portland Nursery, and Cornell Farm for donating the seeds that made this event such a blooming success.
Friends and neighbors throughout Multnomah Village participated in a clean-up event.
| Our literal neighbors, Living Room Realty, held a food drive to support our Free Food Market.
We were also proud to once again take part in the Raleigh Hills Business Association’s Annual Shred Day, a popular drive-through event where community members dropped off everything from electronics and cans to furniture, paper, and more for recycling. We collected 885 pounds of food at the event for our Free Food Market—nearly double last year’s total!Â
Earth Day is a powerful reminder that small actions, when done together, can grow something truly meaningful.

All-Staff Meeting: A Celebration of Teamwork and Support |
Neighborhood House staff members gathered at the Multnomah Art Center for our annual in-person all-staff gathering. It’s powerful to see all 100+ staff members in one room with peers who are thoroughly and consistently committed to our communities and to our neighbors.
We heard updates from our senior leadership team, connected with colleagues through breakout sessions and interactive activities, and discovered many ways our programs intersect and support one another.
It's not easy to organize an in-person event without impacting our program work. But the opportunity to come together and build stronger bonds across teams is an important priority to our work. It's nice to have this annual reminder of just how united and mission-driven our Neighborhood House community truly is.
