Sign-Up for Flu Vaccine

As a convenience to our families, a representative from CVS will be on campus on Tuesday, October 6 to administer influenza vaccines to our students and employees. While SAS does not require an influenza vaccine, it is - especially this year - highly recommended. Request a vaccine for your child.

If you have questions about this or other health precautions being taken on the SAS campus, please contact the Director of Health Services Melissa Gilliam.

Home Soccer Game on Thursday

Our girls' varsity soccer team is playing at home tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. Because this is an outdoor event, we are allowing fans. However, the stands will be kept at one-third capacity with an expectation that ALL spectators wear face masks, stay 6-feet apart from people who are not a member of their household, and do not congregate on the track or in the parking lot. Please help us to make this a safe event.

Club Opportunities

Our club activities have been a little slow to pick up as we adjust to the new daily schedule and finding ways and times to meet. However, the following clubs are meeting: Chess, Art, Dungeons and Dragons, Debate, and Interact. To start a new club, a student need only draft a club proposal, find a faculty sponsor, and register with the Dean of Students' Office.

Congratulations!

Golfers Luca Malde and Tyler Rdogers qualified for the regional tournament to be played next Tuesday.

Our COVID-19 Protocols Have Moved

We have moved our COVID-19 Protocols & FAQs to better reflect the ongoing nature of the work we are doing.

Why is SAS offering flu shots at school this year?

According to the CDC: It’s likely that flu viruses and the virus that causes COVID-19 will both spread this fall and winter. Healthcare systems could be overwhelmed treating both patients with flu and patients with COVID-19. This means getting a flu vaccine during 2020-2021 is more important than ever. While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, there are many important benefits. Flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death. Getting a flu vaccine can also save healthcare resources for the care of patients with COVID-19. We want to make it as easy for you as possible to get your child vaccinated.

The 4-County Active Case Rate

As of Tuesday, the seven-day average active case rate is .39%. Active cases in our region continue to climb, and we are monitoring the situation carefully.
