December was a whirlwind of activities, events and holiday cheer. Check out photos below for a recap of some of the fun!
With just a few weeks left in the Share the Love campaign, we are incredibly close to our goal! Your incredible generosity has brought in $567,081 - almost 95% of our goal! Thanks to you, we'll be able to serve more families this year. Provide more food. More services. More love.
If you haven't made a gift yet, now is definitely the time - please make a donation before January 31st to support our innovative, life-changing programs.
Love is meant to be shared. You show your love for neighbors and community by supporting our work. Thank you!

The Holiday Gala in Multnomah Village gives us the wonderful opportunity each year to invite neighbors and friends into the lobby for the festivities.
From crafts and cocoa to mulled wine and community cheer, the Holiday Gala and Tree Lighting Ceremony had it all. Thank you for making it such a special celebration!
|
| This year’s Winter Wishes campaign brightened the holidays for many in the community. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we provided holiday gifts, clothes, toys and necessities worth over $20,000 to the families we serve through Winter Wishes!

This year’s SnowCon pub, food and shop crawl through Multnomah Village was a huge success, with twice as many participants as last year! The event was a blast, and the costume contest was a crowd favorite throughout the Village.
Thank you to our event Gold sponsors, Zinc, Sarah J Handmade, The Ship and Switch!

| Senior Week offered members a chance to show off the Senior Center to new friends, and spend time with each other. It featured a wine tasting, festive brunch and the MAC's craft fair.
A special thank you to Oregon Episcopal School's first grade class for caroling in the Senior Center lobby. It offered beautiful holiday cheer to the festivities!

NH staffer creating business connections for Ukrainian refugees |
|
|
We are proud to spotlight the incredible work of Evghenia Sincariuc, Program Coordinator for the Child Care Improvement Project (CCIP).
Evghenia, herself a refugee who came to Portland after the first invasion of Ukraine in 2016, understands the immense challenges faced by newcomers.
Evghenia’s leadership and deep commitment to her Ukrainian community recently came to life at the Ukrainian Alliance: UA Business Connect 2024.
She was one of the founders and organizers of this groundbreaking event that provided vital resources and support to Ukrainian entrepreneurs, all in the Ukrainian language—a first for the region.

“Immigration is hard, even when you’re highly qualified. You leave your home and start a new life—it’s mentally challenging.”

The conference was considered such a success that the organizers will hold another in May to help Portland's Ukrainian community to be successful.

Barbur Update: Our Future Home
|
|
|
As you may know, Neighborhood House is planning to move into a new home on Barbur Boulevard, less than a mile from our current administrative building in Multnomah Village.
Fundraising is going strong for the Growing Our Village Campaign, with almost $4 million raised toward the total goal of $7.5 million to complete this ambitious vision for the next century of service.

| Last month brought two new signs of progress.
- Contractors fenced off the building in preparation for the first step in a construction process that will touch almost every part of the building: roof, HVAC, sewer repairs, and a complete overhaul of the interior. The building will remain closed during the remediation process that will last through February.
- The second sign of progress was receiving our first permit. Anyone who has ever gone through a renovation project will understand how lengthy the permitting process can be, and how exciting it is to get approvals.
|
|
|
We’ll be holding information sessions while the building is closed, with both in-person and virtual options. For more information about joining an information session, the project plan and the capital campaign supporting it, please visit the Growing Our Village Campaign page of our website.
