| The Neighborhood God Gave Us - World Communion Sunday
Matthew 21:33–46
The vineyard belongs to God and has been entrusted to us. Our church, our resources, and our place in Tuscaloosa are gifts entrusted to us for the sake of God’s mission. The question is not simply, “What do we have?” but “For whom has God placed us here?”
The Bridge: Chitwood Hall at 9:00 a.m.
Traditions: The Sanctuary at 11:00 a.m.

| This Sunday is World Communion Sunday
|
This Sunday, October 4, we join Christians around the world in celebrating World Communion Sunday. Begun in 1933 as a way to emphasize the unity of the Christian Church, this special day reminds us that at Christ’s table we are connected with believers across denominations, cultures, and nations. As we share the bread and cup, we celebrate our communion with God—and with one another.

Volunteer for Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging Event |
Join us on Wednesday, September 30th as FUMCT partners with Rise Against Hunger for a meal packaging event!
Our Rise Against Hunger Experience events provide lasting, real-life impact as we work together for a start-to-finish meal assembly experience to combine rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a packet of 18 vitamins and minerals into life-changing meal packages. The food stores easily, transports quickly, and has a long shelf life to help meet the immediate nutritional needs of people facing food insecurity, paving the way toward resilient and bright futures! Last year we packed 15,000 meals. This year our goal is 20,000. Come out and enjoy this fun and impactful event.
Sign up here to volunteer and be part of the effort!

The FUMCT Handbell Choir is looking for a few new ringers! No handbell experience is needed, but some experience reading music is helpful. If you’ve played piano or been part of a band or orchestra, this is a great opportunity to put those skills back to use while helping lead worship.
|
Come give handbells a try with no commitment at our Open Rehearsal in Room 304!
Open to high school students and adults.
Please RSVP to Jerrod Newell at jpnewell@ua.edu or 205-242-3966 so we’ll be ready to welcome you.

Next Drop-Off: October 5-9
Matthew 25 accepts clothing and household donations during the first week of each month.
We welcome clean, gently used, seasonally appropriate adult clothing and shoes. Please wash all items before donating, label bags or boxes with the size and women’s/men’s designation, pair shoes together, and pack donations in manageable bags or boxes. New undergarments and socks in their original packaging are welcome.
We also accept small household items that are clean, complete, and in good working condition, including dishes, cookware, towels, sheets, lamps, and small kitchen appliances.
We cannot accept: children’s clothing, formal wear, swimwear, used undergarments or socks, or clothing that is damaged, stained, wet, unwashed, or excessively worn. For children’s clothing, consider Tuscaloosa’s One Place, One Mission, TES, or Neighborhood Bridges.
For furniture, large appliances, or oversized items, please email Melissa Tuten (melissa@fumct.org) before donating to confirm there is a current need and space available. Please do not leave donations outside or after hours.

University Singers in Worship |
Sunday, October 11 | 11:00 AM | Traditions
Join us as The University Singers lead us in worship during the 11:00 AM Traditions service.
The University Singers will then be presenting a free concert in our sanctuary that afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The concert is the next chapter of the Series, under the direction of Dr. Morgan Luttig. Among the music of the afternoon is a new hymn, “Our Music Will Endure,” from which the concert takes its name. Its title gives voice to what the Series exists to ensure: that music will continue to be made, that young musicians will continue to be given meaningful opportunities, and that the relationships formed through music will endure. The afternoon will also recognize the contributors whose generosity made the first performance, and everything that has followed, possible.

Best of all, proceeds from Craft Room sales are donated each year to local agencies serving women, children, and youth.
Come shop with us on Wednesdays from 1:00-4:00 PM, or contact Lynne Richardson at 205-242-9499 for more information.
