Dear #RPSStrong Family,
I hope you were able to enjoy the suddenly summer-like weather today. I started on some yard work this afternoon and lost track of time, so I'm a little later than usual today. My apologies!
Shout-outs! – Thank you so much for continuing to email me your shout-outs – even on Sunday. Keep 'em coming!
We love Mrs. Baron (4th grade inclusive classroom at Fox) so much! She has parlayed her amazing classroom teaching into daily morning Zoom meetings, lessons, and homework to keep her students engaged and learning!
Yay, Mrs. Jamiee Cates, 3rd grade teacher at Fox! She posts daily morning meeting questions, language arts assignments and math lessons. She uses slide shows with her voice so that the kids still feel very connected to the class and part of her classroom. She does a read aloud segment that Mitchell looks forward to every school day. She has made everyone’s life a little easier at our house and we are thankful for her dedication to her students.
Just wanted to give a shout out to Mr. Gilstrap for arranging 2 different robocalls, one in English and one in Spanish, to the Huguenot community reminding them about the change in food venues and the changing bus drop off food locations. Also, Ms. Mendez, Ms. Gregory, and Dr. Coggin spent several days calling all of the Huguenot ESL students as they speak fluent Spanish to make sure the students were clear on the food locations. This was also key in helping students have more convenient food drop off locations. Many thanks for everything you are doing every day to support the RPS schools and families.
Mrs. Ragland is awesome. Her class is very small with exceptional education 3-year-olds. On Saturday she met with parents to deliver workbooks with activities for her little students. She keeps in contact with her class through ClassDojo and is starting Zoom session on Monday.
I wanted to give a shout out to Ms. Whitaker at Maymont Preschool. She has stayed in touch with her class through Class Dojo and it has meant so much to my daughter.
I would like to shout out Ms. Bauman, Ms. Harr, and Ms. Brockman at Linwood Holton!!! They have been nothing short of amazing from the time school has closed!! The outpouring of love and encouragement they have provided to their entire classes are unmeasurable!! Dr. Hurt has also kept the entire school in the loop every step of the way! Let’s go Lions!!!
I would thank Latonia Kelley and Valentina Thompson, John Marshall's managers of all social media content! These ladies have worked all year to keep us connected, current and informed. They have Exceeded Expectations with Excellence!
I want to thank Ms. Moeser and Ms. Saulsbury at Bellevue Elementary. They are providing the emotional and academic support my daughter needs during this crazy time. We are so thankful that they are maintaining a relationship with her.
Our junior at CodeRVA has had a seamless transition to virtual learning. Today his math teacher, Mrs. Fines, dropped off a physical care package to further encourage him! Many thanks to the caring teachers and staff!
With great appreciation,
Jason
