It's Snow Secret, Kasey Coleman Provides Fantastic Customer Service
Kasey Coleman (they/them) with Tender Loving Empire was nominated by a PDX employee:
"Kasey has always been a pillar of the PDX community. They arrive to work with an incredible, warm attitude and go above and beyond for TLE.
During the January weather event, Kasey was the only member of the TLE team that made it in EVERY DAY to help customers and PDX People shop our locations. It is during these adverse times for small businesses that Kasey going above and beyond truly helped our community in so many ways. We are so proud to have them work for us."

Help with TSA Practice Runs
Loosen up your shoelaces and bring a co-worker, a bag and your ID to help TSA practice using their new equipment! Stop by any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, or Monday, Aug. 12 – we want this to feel like a real TSA queue, so unexpected surges are ideal. Expect to stay about 30 minutes, though more time is welcome.
- What's needed:Â Your participation for about 30 minutes
- What's in it for you:Â The joy of knowing our TSA checkpoints will run smoothly when the new main terminal opens and an early look inside. Also...snacks!
- Tell us you're coming: This is more fun as a group. Gather your co-workers and sign up as a team!

Guess Who's Coming to PDX?!
In the coming weeks, we’re sharing some short video intros to the 12 local shops coming to the new main terminal. Owned by a native Oregonian, this business is the ultimate purveyor of Portland’s quirkiest treasures. From handcrafted gems by Oregon makers to those oh-so-Portland tees, this shop has it all. And shopping here means you’re supporting the amazing locals who make the PNW the wonderland we all adore. It’s Hello from Portland, and we're ready to welcome them to the new PDX with open arms and plenty of souvenirs!Â

Mark Your Calendar for July Events
Did you know there's a calendar of events on the PDX People website? It's the best way to keep track of upcoming learning opportunities and fun events open to all airport employees.
United Airlines' Summer Blood Drive: Our partners at United Airlines have a summer blood drive scheduled on Tuesday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in south baggage claim, near carousel 2. Your blood donation helps ensure that there's enough supply for all patients who need it. It costs nothing but your time, and your donation is a gift that can help up to three people. Schedule your appointment now or call the American Red Cross at 1.800.RED.CROSS.
Celebrate PDX Concessions: If the sunshine has you feeling ready for some summer fun, watch for parades happening in the terminal featuring loveable llamas, the Unipiper, live music, and samples/deals from the concessions!

KLM Adds Year-Round Trans-Atlantic Service Between Portland and Amsterdam
Starting this October, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will take over Delta’s nonstop service to Amsterdam. The nonstop from PDX to Amsterdam is a popular flight for our business community and vacationers to and from Europe, and it's important to keep the two markets connected. The airline will fly this route three times weekly during winter and increase frequency during the summer, and will use a 787 Dreamliner. We’re grateful for Delta’s longstanding and continued partnership – including operating this route for 15 years – and excited for the next chapter with KLM.

PDX in Pictures
"Atlas," a large-scale artwork by DeWitt Godfrey near the Rental Car Center shuttle bus turnaround, is a finalist for this year’s international CODAawards competition, and you can vote for it to receive a People’s Choice CODAaward. Projects were selected based on the successful integration of the artwork into public space, the importance of the integration into the overall design, and the collaboration that went into the project.
Said to be “simultaneously massive in scale, yet transparent, light and airy,” the work captures travelers’ experiences of both arrival and departure. Made of corten steel and bolts, "Atlas" was completed in 2023 and featured computational design and engineering. Watch a video of the project, then vote for it in the competition before it closes tomorrow – Tuesday, July 2.
