Jim Kost
Jim Kost Runs on Premium Customer Service
Jim Kost with Dollar Rent a Car was nominated by a PDX traveler.
"When we arrived at PDX, we didn’t realize how long the walk would take to pick up our rental car. We are senior citizens and needed to arrange a wheelchair for my wife – this took some extra time.
We had booked the lowest-rate car special, but Jim kindly upgraded us at no extra cost. After completing the paperwork, he personally assisted my wife and me with the wheelchair to get upstairs to our car. That’s when I realized I had left my paperwork at the counter downstairs. Jim went all the way back to retrieve it and returned it to me. His help was outstanding. Jim was wonderful – thank you for having such a great employee!"

New Pinball Game Lands in PDX Community Room
Have you checked out the PDX Community Room yet? It’s a break space for everyone who works at the airport – and now’s the perfect time to visit! A brand-new Star Wars pinball machine arrived last week, so stop by and enjoy a free game.
As a reminder, the PDX Community Room is accessible to all airport employees and features vending machines, DIRECTV, comfortable seating, Wi-Fi access, a microwave, computer station, and board games.
You can find the room on lower Concourse D, under Gate D4. There are two routes to access the PDX Community Room – from the D5 freight elevator or from the central waste area (red badge required for this route). There is also signage on lower D to point the way. Learn more about the space and its conduct guidelines.

Mall Walkers Wave Goodbye to North Bypass
Last Thursday, we gave the North Bypass detour a uniquely PDX send-off, inviting Portland’s own Food Court 5000 to trade their usual Lloyd Center mall walk for a concourse cardio cameo. No more pre-flight power-walk workouts, just shorter, smoother routes to Concourse E and baggage claim.
Watch the video for some familiar PDX faces, then get ready for a whole lot of ~rad~ as the rest of the new main terminal rolls out soon!
And in case that's not gnarly enough – don't forget about the Evergreen's 50% off offer celebrating the shorter walks, available now through Wednesday, March 11.

Donation Collection for Federal Employees at PDX Underway
To help keep daily airport operations running smoothly, some federal workers employed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including hundreds of TSA officers at PDX, are designated as essential and continue to work without pay during the partial government shutdown.
To show our deep appreciation for those impacted at the airport, we placed donation bins near the PDX stadium stairs. Items including non-perishable food, household essentials, and gift cards for $25 or less can be dropped off at any time throughout the duration of the shutdown – see the calendar listing for everything that can and cannot be accepted. When enough donations have been collected, we’ll open the pantry for distribution.

PDX in Pictures
Did you see a blazing ball of fire in the air over PDX last week? No worries – our Portland Airport Fire and Rescue crew had it all under control.
If you weren’t aware, the Federal Aviation Administration mandates liquid fuel fire training once a year. When the time comes, our Fire folks get geared up, snapped in, and ready to demonstrate what makes them one of the best Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) stations around.
Consider those columns of flame and big plumes of smoke proof that PDX really is prepared to keep things running safely.
