CHEERS Consultations & Upcoming Research Funding Opportunities

CHEERS Education Research Consultation is a way for students, trainees, and faculty to receive interprofessional and interdisciplinary peer consultations for education projects, conference abstracts/presentations, and manuscripts. See the full advertisement.
All sessions are from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, presenters will have a choice between an in-person or virtual format to present their ideas. Please fill out this form if you are interested in a consultation.

Workshop on Generating Scholarship in Education Research

Monday, November 6th & December 4th, 5:30-7:30 pm
Participants are expected to attend both sessions.
This workshop will provide faculty with information, tools, and resources to develop a research plan for a project in education research. The application deadline is Friday, October 13th. The workshops will be scheduled in-person or online using Zoom, dependent on the choice of most participants. See the full advertisement.

CFE SMHS Teaching Essentials Series
| |
The Teaching Essentials Series program is a series of one-hour workshops for scientists, clinicians, researchers, post-docs, and graduate students who want to learn more about key aspects of teaching & learning. Each session has an online component consisting of short videos and brief exercises to do on your own prior to the session. Participants then attend a 1-hour interactive virtual workshop session to apply concepts and get feedback from peers. Sessions are held monthly, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm via Zoom.

Teddy Hristov, the CFE Senior Instructional Designer, will hold weekly office hours starting in October to support faculty. These office hours are designated for discussing and practicing the best use of educational technology and pedagogical teaching/learning methods.

CFE SMHS September Faculty Spotlight - Dr. David Leitenberg

Join the CFE as we highlight David Leitenberg, MD, PhD, who discusses his journey within Immunology and Clinical Pathology, and how he blends his teaching and research interests inside and outside the classroom. He details his role as the Director of Medical Student Research, where he advocates for students to pursue research broadly, and discusses funding mechanisms for scholarly activities. He also outlines the structure of the Scholarly Concentrations and his role as Co-Director of the Clinical and Translational Research concentration. Read the full interview here.

This interactive presentation will introduce the sociobiology analogy as a complementary lens from which to think about resilient teaming in medical education research—using insights from investigations with action teams and engaging participants in discussions around the sociobiology principles of communication, decentralization, and self-repair as it pertains to medical education research teams. Register for a monthly webinar series hosted by the editorial teams of the AAMC’s 2 peer-reviewed journals, Academic Medicine and MedEdPORTAL. Sessions will cover the importance of publishing your education scholarship and practical suggestions for how to do so successfully, and will include interactive exercises to practice what you have learned and time for Q&A with the editorial teams of Academic Medicine and/or MedEdPORTAL. These sessions are open to all so please consider sharing with your peers, students, and others interested in these topics.
