LUCIE AWARDS HONOR DIVERSE ROSTER OF PHOTOGRAPHERS
AT ZANKEL HALL AT CARNEGIE HALL November 2, 7pm
12th annual celebration honors greatest achievements in photography this year
Los Angeles, Calif. (October 23, 2014) – For the second year in a row, the renowned photography celebration, The Lucie Awards, will be hosted in Zankel Hall at New York City’s legendary Carnegie Hall on November 2, 2014. This year’s 12th annual ceremony will celebrate the greatest achievements in photography with its most diverse line-up of honorees to date. The photography community, representing countries around the globe, will pay tribute to the most outstanding photography achievements this past year at the highly anticipated Gala Awards ceremony. The Lucie Awards are a signature program of the Lucie Foundation, the nonprofit charitable organization whose three-tiered mission is to honor master photographers, discover and cultivate emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of photography, worldwide.

“This year marks the continued momentum into the second decade of The Lucie Awards. To add to the celebration of our longevity, it is with great pride that we present an international roster of recipients this year, hailing from regions across the globe from England to Mexico,” remarked Hossein Farmani, Founder and Chairman of the Lucie Awards.
Each year, The Lucie Awards’ Advisory Board nominates deserving individuals across a variety of categories that will be honored during the Gala Awards ceremony. Once the nominations have been received, the votes are tallied and an honoree in each category is identified. This year, the Advisory Board has nominated six honorees including Carrie Mae Weems for her achievement in fine arts, Jane Bown as the Lifetime Achievement honoree, Nan Goldin for her achievement in portraiture, Martin Parr’s achievement in documentary, Nick Ut for his achievement in photojournalism, and Pedro Meyer as the Visionary Award recipient.
“I am thrilled with the honorees selected by our Advisory Board each year,” remarked Cat Jimenez, Executive Director of the Lucie Foundation and Executive Producer of The Lucie Awards. “However, this year’s diverse roster is truly worth celebrating. It is the first year we have had equal male and female Lucie Honorees. It is so important that The Lucie Awards honestly mirrors the diverse landscape of photography today and this year’s honorees are an inspiring reflection of this.”
In addition to recognizing these six masters in their fields, The Lucie Awards also recognizes the year’s best photographic achievements through the presentation of six Support Category awards. These categories range from Fashion Layout of the Year to Curator/Exhibition of the Year, providing the public with the opportunity to recognize the individuals and institutions that play an integral part in crafting an image. During this year’s ceremony, The Lucie Awards’ sister effort, the International Photography Awards (IPA) will also announce it’s top four winners in their annual, global photography competition. In its 12th year, the IPA Annual Photo Competition’s fees continue to support the year-round programming of the Lucie Foundation.
