Where You Should Be:
Med School Applicants – AMCAS has been submitted and you are busily completing secondaries as you get them. Aim for two-three weeks to get each one submitted if possible. They will be sent to you sporadically and unpredictably so try to keep up.
Dental School Applicants – If you have not submitted AADSAS yet, be sure to submit this month.
HPRC - We have already finalized over 70 letters and are busily uploading packets to AMCAS, AADSAS and AACOMAS.  Latest HPRC interview date is July 29th.
Secondaries – Odds’n’Ends
Reread the June 24th applicant email with some tips about some typical secondary questions.
Think of secondaries like quizzes. Your final exam/paper was AMCAS or AADSAS. That is the biggest part of your grade. The secondaries are like quizzes – not unimportant but hardly worth the angst and worry you are giving them.
Do your secondaries. Do them step by step, in a concise, straightforward way. Do not spend the time on these short questions that you spent on your personal statement. Do not spend hours trying to second guess what admissions committees want. Do not spend every spare minute on secondaries – take time to socialize, go to the beach, get some exercise and relax. A week or two here or there will not make a difference. And by all means don’t waste your time with online chat rooms sure to throw you off the cliff with worry.
Make sure you let schools know what you will be doing in the coming year.
What to Read, What not to Read
If you like to read online about medicine and the med school application process, or about dental school, go to official sources where responsible med and dent students share their stories alongside accurate, timely information about the process. Please avoid studentdoctor.net.  Here are some resources we highly recommend:
http://www.amsa.org is a well-respected professional association of medical students and
http://www.asdanet.org/predental/ - similarly for dental students
