Dean volunteers at Auction 2014

Auction 2016

Auction is truly a community event
Please join us for our 41st year of Auction! Auction is a live televised and online event that raises funds to support the programming, broadcasting and community outreach activities of WPT. Auction will be live June 1-5 in WPT’s Vilas Hall studios located on the UW-Madison campus. More than 4,000 items will be up for bid and more than 800 volunteers will donate their time and energy to make this exciting fundraising event a success!

We have a variety of on-camera and behind-the-scenes volunteer jobs available to match your interests and skills. Some of our most popular jobs include taking bids over the phone from our loyal bidders, setting up displays and placing confirmation calls to winning bidders. Volunteering at Auction is not only fun and exciting, it’s also a great way to network and meet new people.

Online registration is open on our website, wpt.org/volunteer. You can also sign up by email or phone.

Volunteer registration is now open! To sign up, visit us online or contact Mike McKenzie at (608) 265-4436 or email mike.mckenzie@wpt.org.

Meet WPT's New Volunteer Managers

Mike McKenzie
Mike McKenzie started at WPT on Jan. 25. He is originally from Milwaukee. Before coming to WPT, he managed fundraising events, auctions and volunteers at Milwaukee Public Television and KLRN in San Antonio. Mike’s main duties will be managing volunteers at Garden Expo, Quilt Expo and Auction, and playing a role in community engagement events. He enjoys playing tennis, going on road trips, watching cooking shows on WPT (especially Lidia Bastianich) and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
Katie Dreps
Katie Dreps, formerly of Audience Services at WPT, has accepted a new role in the Membership Department managing volunteers for membership drives and supporting member services. Her first day is May 16. Her main hobbies are subversive cross stitch, planning her next international trip and the pursuit of the perfect cup of coffee. She’s a UW-Madison grad and a huge Badgers and Packers fan! Katie is an anglophile at heart and her favorite programs on WPT are Masterpiece’s Downton Abbey, Grantchester, Poldark, and The Great British Baking Show.
Susan McCallum

We Will Miss You, Susan!

Susan McCallum, long-time Events Food Coordinator for WPT, is leaving for a position with the City of Madison. Thank you Susan for your loyalty to WPT and for all your hard work keeping our volunteers fed and happy. Saying goodbye is never easy, and it’s even more difficult with an employee like you who has been such a vital part of our volunteer program.

Thank you Garden Expo Volunteers!

This year’s Garden Expo was a big success and we couldn’t have done it without you. We had over 220 WPT Volunteers help out over the four days. Total attendance for the three-day event was 18,070 (up 7% from last year and the 9th highest in show history).  We had record-breaking attendance on Friday, a solid Saturday, and then Sunday took a bit of a hit, presumably from the all-day snow. We hope to see you back next year for the 2017 Garden Expo, February 10 – 12.
