TSRA's Basic River Rescue Clinic will be held July 14-16, 2017 on the Hiwassee River, Reliance, TN.

TVA Seeks Input on Proposed Ocoee Agreement
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is seeking public input on a proposed management agreement with the U.S. Forest Service, the State of Tennessee and the Ocoee River Outfitters Association to establish partner responsibilities for recreational water releases and management along the Ocoee River in Polk County. Current management and flow release agreements expire at the end of 2018. The public comment period closes July 19, 2017.
The proposed agreement calls for a release schedule from Ocoee Dam No. 2 and Dam No 3 similar to the current schedule, but with the elimination of five weekdays on the middle Ocoee in late September each year.
American Whitewater provides a summary of the proposed agreement along with concepts paddlers may want to consider before commenting to the TVA.

TSRA and Boater Safety
Featured in the News
TSRA's work in safety and rescue has gotten a lot of exposure during the lead up to July 4th! First, we were featured in a front page article in the Sunday Edition of Murfreesboro's Daily News Journal, then the article was picked up by The Tennessean on page 4. And, less than a week later, the NBC affiliate in Nashville came calling, asking us to do a joint feature about water safety with TWRA.
Kudos to everyone who helps TSRA educate boaters about water safety and rescue! Let's celebrate that our efforts are now moving to the general media market, at large!
Mill Creek Kayak Cleanup - July 13
Volunteers Needed
Mill Creek Kayak Cleanup
Help clean Mill Creek! Our waters are valuable resources that need to be cared for. Each time it rains, trash gets washed into our rivers, creeks and streams. Join the Cumberland River Compact and Cumberland Kayak Urban Adventure Co. for a paddle cleanup of Mill Creek on Thursday, July 13. This is a VOLUNTEER event open to the public (with some fun perks!). Register Online

            or Join TSRA Paddler Chat

TSRA Paddler Chat is a place where friends and family of the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association come together to talk about boats and gear, plan paddle trips and tell river stories.

In order TO JOIN THIS GROUP you must:

1) Request to join the group, and
2) Sign a waiver to acknowledge that the trips we plan here are just groups of Common Adventurers enjoying the river together.

*The good news is that you can sign this waiver once and it will cover all TSRA Common Adventurer trips from now on!

Canoe & Kayak School Was Awesome! Were You There?
Canoe & Kayak School 2017
TSRA's 48th annual Canoe and Kayak School was a great success with almost twice as many  students as we had last year! We returned to the Hiwassee/Ocoee State Park and Gee Creek campground and increased our focus on beginners and it seems to have paid off! Thank you to our students, volunteers and instructors for supporting TSRA and paddler education!
