Dear Parents and Families,
I hope this finds you well as we enter our third month of the academic year. Here in the Office of Residential Life and Learning (ORLL), we are working diligently to provide educational programming that engages and supports our students living on and off campus. In recent years, we have seen increased demand for on-campus housing, and students continue to request additional assistance navigating the rental market in our neighboring communities of Somerville, Medford, and Boston. ORLL is committed to meeting these challenges, and we’re working hard to provide options and resources to your student.

Registration for Spring 2019

Your student is meeting with their Major or Pre-Major Advisor now and will be registering for Spring 2019 courses between November 14 - 20. Ideally, they will have many courses that interest them and fulfill requirements and will be able to enroll in a manageable number. For any student who would like to make changes to their courses, however, registration reopens in December and January. Many students make changes at this later date, particularly after reviewing their fall grades. Encourage your student to be thoughtful and patient as they go through the registration process.

Reducing the Stress of Choosing a Major

Selecting a major can be both exciting and intimidating. With 90+ majors and minors at Tufts, it’s easy for students to feel overwhelmed and wonder if they’re choosing (or have chosen!) the “right” path. Fortunately, the Career Center team is ready to assist. Here are a few resources:

Save the Date -- Sophomore Career Summit on January 15, 2019

Students will explore career fields, network with alumni and employers, learn about internship search strategies, enjoy good food, door prizes, and more!  Details and registration to follow. Encourage your sophomore to register!
