Teacher of the Month - Dec. 2024
In cooperation with the Mayor's office and City Council, the Rotary Club of Okla. City recognizes an outstanding teacher in our community.
Jennifer Evans received her Bachelors of Science in Special Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and her Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University, and has taught for 25 years. She began teaching in Putnam City Schools at Tulakes Elementary in 2008 and currently serves as the Special Education Resource Teacher at Ralph Downs Elementary. She also serves as the Community and Diversity Chair, the social media representative, and is a member of Guiding Coalition at Ralph Downs Elementary. She has previously served on the Golden Apple Committee, Diversity Committee, and the PC Foundation CAST Committee for the district over the last 16 years. Jennifer has been a Teacher Liaison for Whiz Kids Oklahoma for 18 years and is a member of the Whiz Kids Oklahoma Board, where she also serves as its Secretary.
Jennifer serves as president of the Delta Kappa Gamma - Alpha Chapter, a society of women educators that promotes growth and leadership. She was named the Golden Apple Award winner in Putnam City Schools in 2012 and the PC Applause in 2024, and the Kaiser Elementary PTA Service Appreciation Award 2004. She has been nominated for the 2025 Oklahoma Foundation Medal of Excellence in teaching.
Jennifer is a third generation public school educator and knew she wanted to teach as a young child. She had amazing teachers growing up and hopes to empower her own students with a desire to learn and succeed.
Jennifer spends her free time with her husband Josh, son Isaac, and daughter Rainey.

On Oct. 8, 2024, we announced the OnePledge Committee’s selection of Wings Special Needs Community for the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City’s 2024-2025 project.
Founded in 2002 by six families, Wings offers qualify, affordable educational programs for adults with developmental disabilities. Over the past twenty years, Wings has grown from six clients to serving nearly 100 Day Program members on a five-acre leased campus in Edmond.
