Dear College of Fine Arts Faculty and Staff,
After 23 years in the College of Fine Arts and more than three decades at the university, Assistant Dean for Business Affairs Cathy Kothlow will be retiring at the end of this year, effective Dec. 31. Please join me in extending warmest wishes to Cathy as she prepares for this next chapter in her life. We’ll be launching a search soon to fill this key role in our college.
Cathy started her career at the university, her alma mater, and spent nine years working in the UT Tower, first as an internal auditor in the Office of Internal Audits and then in the Business Manager’s Office. Interim Dean Charles Roeckle hired her in the College of Fine Arts, and during her time in the college, she’s worked with four different deans through periods of enormous change. She’s always ensured that the college’s budget was balanced and that we never operated at a deficit. She has worked to improve and create efficiencies in our business processes over the years, and she managed the college's successful launch of Workday.
Even in the university’s leanest years, Cathy has developed strategic ways for the college to manage its finances and to find resources to pursue ambitious initiatives. In addition to the accomplishments in financial and human resources operations, she has also overseen the IT and facilities portfolios. She’s worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success of many facilities projects in the College of Fine Arts, from the Art Building renovation to create the Visual Arts Center to the renovation of various spaces to support the School of Design and Creative Technologies.
I want to thank Cathy for her excellent service to the college and for the many ways her hard work has made our educational mission possible for students, faculty and staff in the college.
Sincerely,
