We are rain or shine every Saturday 9a-1p & Sunday 10a-2p!
Fall fruits are in full swing at the farmers' market! Lightsey Farms brought the first persimmons of the season last weekend, one of our favorite seasonal treats. She grows a variety of persimmons, that range from a glossy golden yellow color to deep reddish orange hues. Ask for recommendations from the farmer on which variety is best based on what you'll be using them for! The golden yellow, tomato-shaped Fuyu variety is crisp, sweet, and can be eaten like an apple (don't let its tough skin fool you!), while the reddish-orange variety is softer to the touch when ripe, and great for baking. Their flavor is sweet, almost honey-like, and a rare seasonal treat.
We also have pears aplenty at the market right now, and several farmers are still bringing melons. Considering how warm it still is outside, we won't complain about eating cold, refreshing melon for a few more weeks. Get your fruit fix and more this weekend at the markets!
