Message from the President

Greetings friend, and welcome to the August Comfort Connection!
Maybe you have noticed the store on Portage Avenue – My Farmers' Market – Opening Soonish! This storefront is located right beside the second office of Comforts of Home – Care at 2145 Portage Avenue. We are on the west side of Deer Lodge Hospital (in the old Blockbuster store).
For people who live in that area, you will be excited to know the storefront, named Fresh Local Fare, is now OPEN! I’m excited about this for several reasons!
  • Most of the food is organic – fresh, whole food. Food that truly is your medicine!
  • Fresh Local Fare supports over 80 local Manitoba farmers.
  • The quality of the food and the store is top notch!
  • My son, Nathan, is the owner of this venture, and I’m proud of him for living his dream and doing such a great thing. His mission is to provide whole healthy food to the community in an age where it is difficult to buy food that is actually good for you!
For the past four years, Nathan has provided grocery delivery through My Farmers’ Market – where it is "fresh or free!" But now, people of Winnipeg – you will be able to see, smell, and touch your food before you buy it.
Check out this new fabulous food store at 2145 Portage Avenue. Remember, if you prefer to have your groceries delivered, this option is always available at www.myfarmersmarket.com. Perhaps you would like to order groceries for your mom or dad and have them delivered right to their door. Delivery is still and will always be available!

Blessings,
Katherine

Fresh Local Fare in Winnipeg

With a mission to enable households to have convenient access to fresh, healthy, and wholesome foods in Manitoba, My Farmers' Market and its new storefront, Fresh Local Fare, are committed to making a positive difference in the health of our communities by creating awareness of healthy alternatives as opposed to mainstream processed food -- with an emphasis on local and seasonal produce.
And by supporting dozens of Manitoba small farms, you get all the benefits of traditional farmers' market shopping with the ease of visiting a single store (or getting your groceries delivered to your door!).
My Famers' Market envisions a world in which people have convenient access to rural food: allowing access to healthier and non-processed foods will create healthier communities.

Bringing you whole foods which are grown or raised natural and sourced local, these are foods you can feel good about eating -- whether you prefer to do your shopping in-person or online. Eating local has never been this easy!

Recipe of the Month: Roasted Rosemary Potato Salad

This healthy twist on traditional potato salad is sure to please friends and family when you serve it for dinner at any end-of-summer gatherings you have coming up. Try doubling or tripling it depending on the number of guests that will be in attendance, and serve with your favorite fresh local greens and barbecue chicken.

Make your life a whole lot easier and help them to maintain independence by getting groceries delivered to their door instead. With delivery options available at your convenience (in fact, they can even be dropped off on your front porch if no one is home to receive them, or if you prefer, your groceries can be brought right in and set on your counter), you can rest easy knowing that your loved ones are eating well, at an affordable price, without any hassle.
Skip the line-ups and parking lots. From local fruit and vegetables to sustainable meat, dairy, and pantry items, plus household needs and more, My Farmers' Market is the free delivery service you've been waiting for.

Why don't oysters give to charity?
Because they're shellfish!
