Funding for Mill Creek Façade Improvements

The Mill Creek Choice Neighborhood Initiative project is not just about new buildings. It’s also about making improvements to buildings in the project area. Property owners can apply for up to $24,999 to make exterior improvements. Applicants must provide 10% of the funding up front and the City of Huntsville, through its Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant, will cover the remaining cost.

Changes to 'Useless Overpass' Access Roads

The access roads at the section of Memorial Parkway colloquially known as “Useless Overpass” will soon have a new look. The access roads beneath the overpass will become a fully signalized intersection to accommodate traffic at Joe Davis Stadium and new developments in the area. The traffic signals on the access roads will not affect traffic on Memorial Parkway.

District 4 Beautification Award Winner

Council Member Bill Kling presented the District 4 Most Outstanding Property to Randolph Lower School at the annual Beautification Awards ceremony. Each year, the City’s Beautification Board recognizes properties that demonstrate exceptional landscaping, curb appeal and community pride. During the ceremony, 376 properties were recognized.

Tribute to Huntsville Police Hero

The City held a ceremony on Aug. 25 to recognize the installation of signs along U.S. 72 East honoring Huntsville Police Agent Billy Clardy III, who died in the line of duty in 2019 while investigating a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The “Billy Clardy III Memorial Mile” memorializes his service and dedication to helping keep Huntsville safe.

Huntsville Music Month Rocks September

While Huntsville’s music scene is soaring to unprecedented heights, the highlight each year is Huntsville Music Month in September. More than 200 live music events are scheduled throughout the month at venues across Huntsville. Music Month also includes reformatted events such as LAUNCHPAD and the return of the Rocket City Ramble at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville.

Parks & Recreation’s 2026 Fall Program Guide features more than 150 free activities, workshops and special events that promise fall fun for all ages. Residents can find traditional sports like basketball and pickleball in the guide as well as unique offerings such as card-playing groups, a variety of dance classes and “sew-cial” circles who break out the needle and thread.

Jazz in the Park Returns to Big Spring Park Sept. 6

Jazz in the Park, a favorite Huntsville tradition, is back throughout the month of September with free concerts each Sunday in Big Spring Park West. This year’s lineup includes a dynamic mix of national recording artists, rising regional performers and standout local acts. The concerts will be from 5-9 p.m. beginning Sept. 6. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to enjoy the fun at this free event.

Council Member Kling will hold his monthly town meeting on Monday, Sept. 21, from 6-7 p.m. at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library downtown branch, 915 Monroe St. SW.
