Welcome to Week One!

We are so excited to have students back on campus and in the library! Read on to learn more about what services and spaces the library has to offer to help you in your studies this year.
Our doors are open, so feel free to come in and say hi. We are happy to help answer your questions, or feel free to just look around, find your favorite nook, or check out some of our amazing resources including an impressive collection of board games.
Our hours and services are up to date on our home page at evergreen.edu/library.
Have a question? Get in touch with us any time at libraryhelp@evergreen.edu.

Program Books in the Library

The library purchases at least one copy of every required text for every course. We also try to secure ebook licenses to course materials whenever possible. Check out our Course Materials guide to see which books we have available in which formats.
In addition to materials in our collection, you may be able to order course books from other academic libraries through our regional consortium, better known as Summit. Simply search our catalog and if you see a book you want to borrow that is owned by another Summit library, you can request it!
Not seeing something you think we should own? Suggest a library purchase!

The Notebook: Week One of Writing Lab

Join faculty librarian, Stokley Towles, for his first 'writing lab' workshop of the academic year. Stokley's workshops are open to all and have been praised by students, staff, and faculty alike as "my favorite part of the week" and "an oasis in the frenzy of school work."
The "Notebook" workshop consists of a 30-minute talk and 45+ minutes of writing exercises. The talk is based on interviews with writers, artists, researchers, and thinkers who engage notebooks in a variety of ways—map making, sketching ideas, transcribing quotes from their reading, and drawing. The writing exercises demonstrate different ways to use a notebook—freewriting, taking inventory, list making, directed freewriting—to generate material.
Writing Lab happens on Wednesdays from 10:00am - 11:20am for (at least) the first five weeks of the quarter. All Evergreen students, staff, and faculty are welcome.

Study Rooms & Chromebooks & Wifi, Oh My!

The library has great study rooms that are perfect for students who need a quiet space to Zoom into their classes. We even have Chromebooks that you can checkout all equipped with webcams and microphones.
About half of our study rooms are drop-in and first-come, first-served, but the other half can be scheduled ahead of time in Schedule Evergreen.

Stay tuned!

We'll send out more info every week. In the meantime, come in and check out our LP and Games collections, or the incredibly cool Rare Books Room, or ask us questions at the research desk, or stake your claim on your favorite study nook. We'll hope to see you soon!
