We want to highlight Pima County Historic Courthouse and the many activities offered including free concerts on Fridays! Many exciting festivities will be coming up this month including 2nd Saturdays Downtown, Arizona International Film Festival, and the Agave Heritage Festival, to name a few.

DTP Ambassadors Tour Visitor Center

The Southern Arizona Heritage & Visitor Center is a great starting point to discover all that Southern Arizona, the Sonoran Desert, and the Sky Islands has to offer. We want to thank Visit Tucson for giving our DTP Ambassadors a tour last week. When you're visiting downtown, please feel free to ask one of our 20 ambassadors in purple shirts for information, advice or directions!

DTP Ambassadors Spring Cleaning

DTP Ambassadors clean year-round, but with the extra wind and rain this time of year requires additional spring cleaning. We're busy removing weeds in tree grates, sidewalks and curbs. If you have a maintenance concern located within the downtown Business Improvement District, report it online here.

Downtown Tucson Gift Card

The Downtown Tucson Gift Card is a physical gift card that can be redeemed at 55 downtown establishments. This program ensures that 100% of the gift card funds stay within the downtown economy at local businesses. Within the past six months alone, $21,995 worth of Downtown Tucson Gift Cards have been purchased.

It's important that participating businesses train staff members on how to accept this gift card when it's presented by customers. We would like to congratulate the top three businesses who've redeemed the most funds within the past six months: 1. HUB Restaurant & Ice Creamery 2. Hotel Congress 3. Miss Saigon.

Explore the Pima County Historic Courthouse

The Pima County Historic Courthouse offers a variety of unique and fun attractions including the Southern Arizona Heritage & Visitor Center, UArizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum and the Dillinger Courtroom. Grab a refreshing beverage at Five-To-Oh! Coffee and walk through the January 8th Memorial. Enjoy free outdoor Music In The Courtyard every Friday this spring.

Downtown's Largest Sculpture to be Restored

Thanks to the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility's Public Art Maintenance Fund, downtown's largest and most prominent sculpture is getting restored. 'Sonora' is a sculpture created by artist David Black in 1991. The sculpture sits adjacent to the Joel D. Valdez Main Library entrance in Jácome Plaza (101 N. Stone Avenue). The restoration project, which includes a fresh coat of red paint, is scheduled to be completed this spring.

Maynard's Market Reopens with New Menu

Under the direction of Chef Nick Creamer, Maynard's Market (400 N. Toole Avenue) returns to the culinary community in Downtown Tucson. Maynard's Market offers a delectable breakfast and pastry menu, custom charcuterie boards, artisanal lunch fare, vegan options and crafted beverages; something for everyone.

Children's Museum Tucson to Expand

Plans include a new café (in partnership with El Charro), a new gift shop and the acquisition of the adjacent 130 S. Scott Avenue property. The Rio Nuevo Board voted unanimously to invest just under $500,000. Find more information about this project here.

Tucson Police Offer New Camera Registry

The Tucson Police Department camera registry allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register their surveillance cameras with the police department. Police will not have access to the camera systems but will be aware that a camera exists when investigating a crime in or around the neighborhood. Learn more and sign up here.

City and Tucson IDA Team Up for New Loan Fund

The City of Tucson and the Tucson Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will soon introduce the AVANZA Empowerment Fund for traditionally underserved business owners. Loans will range from $5,000 to $250,000. The City and IDA are in the process of building the AVANZA Empowerment Center downtown at 257 N. Stone Avenue. The center is expected to open in 2025 and will be a one-stop shop for business support and loans. For more info watch or read this KOLD 13 news story here or visit avanza.fund.

2nd Saturdays This Weekend

2nd Saturdays Downtown, presented by Rio Nuevo, is back this Saturday, April 8. Local vendors, musicians, and food trucks will line Congress Street and Scott Avenue. Learn more here.
