| Partnering to support your student's success
| |
Our Family Guide is both a source of campus news (there are really cool things happening here)
and a resource to help your student flourish at Denison. Ultimately, we want to empower your student to take the lead on their success — but we know your partnership is essential to making that happen.

Dear Denison Families,
As you prepare for your student’s transition to Denison, I wanted to share some helpful conversations to have with your student in these remaining weeks:
-
Academics: Encourage your student to engage in their coursework from the outset, meet with their academic advisor in the first weeks of the semester, talk with their professors, and embrace the adventure of learning. Ask: What strategies will you use to manage all of your responsibilities and assignments? How will you stay organized?
-
Activities: Getting involved is a great way to meet friends and build a campus network, whether it’s through a campus job, student organization, service activity, or intramural sport. Ask: How do you plan to get involved? Are there any organizations or activities you want to try?
-
Wellness: College can be stressful. There are many resources available, but we expect students to be the agents of their own well-being. Ask: What strategies will you use to manage stress? How will you take care of your health and wellness at Denison?
Enjoy these remaining weeks of summer — I look forward to welcoming you to Denison soon. Please reach out to First-Year Experience with any questions related to your student’s transition.

We will kick off the year with a campus celebration on Sunday, Aug. 27 with the Involvement Fair, carnival rides, performers, Whit’s Frozen Custard, and fireworks to welcome the new academic year.
Throughout the year, we’ll share information with your student about opportunities and experiences to take advantage of — from thought-provoking lectures, creative performances, Knowlton Center career opportunities, and service projects to athletic competitions and tailgates, special events in the dining halls, and campus traditions.
