In June, we acknowledge Immigrant Heritage Month, LGBTQ+ Pride Month, National Caribbean-American Heritage Month, Black Music Month, Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, and Juneteenth.
National Caribbean American Heritage Month (NCAHM) is observed every year throughout June to honor the rich culture, history, and profound societal contributions of Caribbean immigrants and their descendants in the United States.
First established in 2014, the annual observance recognizes the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of the millions of immigrants who have helped shape the nation. New Jersey is home to over 2 million immigrants, nearly 25% of the state’s population. Seton Hall has a diverse array of student organizations.

Juneteenth is an annual observance also known as Emancipation Day, Black Independence Day, or Jubilee Day. It celebrates the end of slavery in the United States in 1865. Slavery in the American South ended on June 19, 1865, after the Civil War. The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified on December 18, 1865, abolished slavery throughout the entire United States. In 2020, New Jersey passed legislation to observe Juneteenth as a state holiday. Learn more about Juneteenth by reviewing our University Library Resources.

June is Black Music Appreciation Month, which celebrates the musical influences of African American and Black musicians, composers, singers, and songwriters. The 2026 Black Music Month theme is “The Soundtrack Continues,” celebrating the enduring legacy of African American music as both a cultural force and a living historical record.
June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month to help raise awareness about the disease, as well as show support for the millions of people worldwide living with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. It is also a time to recognize caregivers for the support they provide to those living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
