Rest in Peace, Merle Haggard

Okie from Muskogee, The Hag, Poet of the Common Man. He went by many names throughout his prolific career, but there is no doubt that there will only be one Merle Haggard.The 20-time ACM Award winner helped establish California country and the "Bakersfield sound," carving his place forever in country music history as a talented singer and unparalleled songwriter.

The legend passed away on April 6, 2016, his 79th birthday. Join us as we celebrate his life and take a look back at some of the Academy's favorite moments with Merle.

And the ACM Award Winners Are...

It was a great night at the 51st ACM Awards for Jason Aldean, who took home his first ever ACM Entertainer of the Year trophy, the night's biggest honor. Meanwhile, country powerhouse Chris Stapleton dominated with six wins, including ACM Male Vocalist of the Year and ACM Album of the Year.
