Financial And Investment Literacy Is The Great Equalizer
Jessica Helen Lopez, named one of the “10 Up and Coming Lantinx Poets You Need to Know” and nationally recognized award-winning slam poet, received little to no financial guidance in school and grew up poor in Los Angeles, struggling to make ends meet from a young age. Yet, despite her hard upbringing, she quickly realized the importance and power of financial education with help from her mother. Lopez took matters into her own hands and changed her life trajectory through a proper finance education.

Jessica Lopez grew up in poverty and experienced what life is like without control of her finances. Now she's found her passion, rose above cultural barriers and continues to teach girls financial empowerment through her poetry and Chicana studies.

Lopez changed her life by prioritizing a proper financial literacy education, courses that girls in High School typically don't get the liberty to acquire. Financial literacy equals accessibility. Getting an education in personal finance sets up generations for success,” she stated recently, and we could not agree more.

RTSWS is closing the gender gap in wages, wealth accumulation, and financial professions by inspiring girls to pursue the M of STEM. We do so by exposing them to real-life, positive, female money managers. We offer teenage girls the opportunity to pursue an impactful financial education, become leaders, and the chance to join the ranks of women in an M of STEM career.

STEM professions lift people out of poverty in one generation. Just ask Jessica Lopez.

National Mentor Day
Yesterday, we celebrated National Mentor Day! A day dedicated to celebrating all the fantastic mentors and to raising awareness of the beneficial and fulfilling impact mentoring makes on children's lives, which significantly influences our economy and society.

RTSWS instructors and mentors are the best of the best, offering their knowledge, experience, and perspective to support students in their college and professional journeys. We are building confident, self-advocating young women who will thrive in school and in the workplace.

Thank you to our RTSWS instructors and mentors!
