FROM OUR LIBRARY
The Santa Fe Prep Library is excited to welcome all new and returning students to the 2017-2018 school year! Students can check out books, computers (for use during their free periods), Apple power adapters, flip cameras, and microphones from the library. The library is open from 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, and all parents and students also have access to the library’s digital collection on the Library’s PowerSchool site.
In additional fun library news, the Middle School Summer Read 5 Challenge exceeded all expectations this year! The Challenge is based on academic research on summer learning loss, aka "the summer slide". Click here to learn more about what went into developing this year's challenge.

Results were announced during an opening assembly in August: 28 students submitted a summer book list with 5 or more books read, making for a total of 522 books! Congratulations to our winners Alex Walpin '23 (50 books), Emma Anderson '22 (48 books), and Iris Teague '23 (48 books), who read an exceptional amount this summer. All the students who submitted a list will enjoy a pizza lunch later this week.

BREAKTHROUGH PROFILE
Meet Kevin Granillo, new to the 8th grade class at Santa Fe Prep and a second-year Santa Fe Breakthrough student. When Kevin was in 6th grade, he decided to apply for Breakthrough because he saw it as a way to grow as a student and person as a whole. Over the past two years, Breakthrough has evolved into a community for Kevin, where he feels encouraged to do better in school, meet new people, and have a positive outlook. Kevin is excited to be joining the Prep community, where he knows he will be challenged academically and will work towards his goal of becoming a surgeon.
