Diplomacy in Practice: Negotiation, Crisis Management, and US Foreign Policy in Action
Wednesday, May 20 | 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. (ET) | Zoom
Ambassador Piper Campbell, Chair of the SIS Department of Foreign Policy and Global Security (FPGS), draws on her experience across Southeast Asia, conflict environments, and senior diplomatic roles to examine how US foreign policy is implemented in practice. The discussion will cover negotiation under pressure, crisis response, interagency coordination, and the realities of representing the US abroad. It will also highlight the skills required to operate in complex geopolitical environments, including stakeholder engagement, strategic communication, and decision-making under uncertainty.
This event is part of the Online and Executive Programs Speaker Series and aligns with the Security & Foreign Policy concentration, which prepares students to understand how foreign policy decisions are made and carried out in practice.
