With 23 years telecom experience, Walid Karim is an absolute asset to the Equinox community. Since 2004, Walid has combined his telecom knowledge with the TeleLink platform to get results at more than one company. After first using TeleLink at a former company, he was excited to learn his current employer relied on the system. Even better, Walid was directly involved with the TeleLink 7 rollout.
In his least cost route management role, Walid relies heavily on TeleLink, using its daily reports, rating templates, and QoS metrics as the basis for adding/removing vendors, creating target rates, and cost avoidance. The traffic management team generates a host of daily analysis reports, which provide beneficial cost information. Walid explains that one of TeleLink’s most important functions is supplying mandated compliance reporting these past few years for rural call completion (in place since 2014) and Lifeline provider performance metrics (began 2013).
Walid says TeleLink is very good but the folks who back it truly make it great. Walid loves the personal relationship he has with the Equinox Support team, especially the help he gets from Kevin, Eric, Joe, and Christi. It turns out that Walid’s colleagues like him as much as Equinox does, citing his good work ethic and attitude, willingness to help, and the technical know-how to get results. Even when busy, Walid always has a smile and says hello. Off the clock, Walid is very involved with his children, volunteering as the soccer coach for his son’s team. He also loves to go on long bicycle rides.
Due to recent mergers and acquisitions, Walid embarks on a new chapter in his professional life later this year. He’s likely to stay in telecom but is ready for any adventure the future holds!
Equinox thanks Walid for working so closely with us these past few years, continually suggesting feature and report improvements—he’s truly helped make TeleLink a better product for the entire user community!
