Accessing Miami Tech: Duo Two-Factor Authentication
In order to access Miami University resources, you will need to be enrolled in Duo, our two-factor authentication tool. When you first try to log in to a Miami resource (email, myMiami, Canvas, etc.), you will be prompted to enroll in Duo. Then, whenever you log in to your Miami accounts after that, you will be asked to authenticate with Duo.

Applying for a Visa and Completing Pre-Arrival Tasks
International students students will need a U.S. visa in their passport to study at Miami University. Most international students will have been issued an I-20 (F-1 Students) or DS-2019 (J-1 exchange visitors) by Miami University and must apply for an F-1 visa (this does not include SEVIS transfer students who are remaining in the U.S. or already have a valid F-1 visa) or J-1 visa.
It is important to apply for your visa as far in advance as possible. Wait times vary, but can be long and there can be additional processing and delays in visa issuance. A delay in visa issuance could result in a delay in your ability to start your studies at Miami University.
Make sure you are also completing all the necessary tasks to prepare for your arrival.
Questions? You can always contact international@MiamiOH.edu.

Generally, graduate students live off campus in an apartment, rented house or rented room in Oxford and are responsible for finding their own housing. Please take time to consider your options and review the Off-Campus Outreach, Housing Search webpage.
Housing accommodations should be arranged before arrival and the move-in date confirmed with the property manager.

| Miami's name comes from the Myaamia people.
Miami University is located within the traditional homelands of the Myaamia and Shawnee people, who, along with other indigenous groups, ceded these lands to the United States in the first Treaty of Greenville in 1795. The Miami people, whose name our university carries, were forcibly removed from these homelands in 1846.

In 1972, a relationship between Miami University and the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma began and evolved into a reciprocal partnership, including the creation of the Myaamia Center at Miami University in 2001. The work of the Myaamia Center serves the Miami Tribe community and is dedicated to the revitalization of Miami language and culture and to restoring that knowledge to the Myaamia people.
