Dear Andover families,
We hope you and everyone in your family are safe and healthy. We know that you are eager to learn about our decisions for September, and we are working with our leadership team and trustees across several working groups to develop a robust plan for the coming school year. Our highest priority continues to be assuring the health and safety of our community.
Our faculty is engaging in extensive professional and curricular development to support the “remote first” delivery of our academic program. Families whose students prefer to remain at home or are unable to join us on campus will have the ability to remain enrolled through our remote program and stay on track to graduate with their respective classes.
Whether classes begin in person, online, or through a hybrid approach, our school year will begin in September and end in June. As noted previously, all students will be off campus from Thanksgiving break until after the New Year (2021) to reduce travel and contact at a high-risk time.
Given the evolving nature of our plans as a result of the dynamic situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to expand the window for enrollment deposit refunds from July 1 to July 15. We will share additional plans for the fall in early July.
While many families have already expressed to us their eagerness to begin or resume their Andover journey in the coming year, we also recognize that the pandemic presents highly unusual circumstances. Returning families who wish to cancel enrollment for 2020-21 must notify Dean of Studies Raj Mundra of their request for a refund on or before July 15, 2020. New families must notify Interim Dean of Admission & Financial Aid Jill Thompson of their request within the same timeframe. Please remember that if you do not cancel enrollment within the required timeframe, you will be responsible for paying the tuition and fees (less any financial aid award) by July 15 under the payment option you chose when you signed the enrollment agreement. The decision to refund deposits through July 15 applies to this year only and does not alter the terms of the enrollment agreement in any other way. It is our hope that you will wait for the announcement of our plans in early July before canceling if this option is one your family is considering.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we all navigate these uncharted territories and look forward to the coming school year that will undoubtedly bring new challenges as well as new energy, optimism, and opportunity. We remain grateful for the indescribable spirit of our Andover community.
With my sincere appreciation,
Jim Ventre ’79
Interim Head of School
