Professional photographer, Wade Aiken will be sharing pictures and stories of his many world-wide adventures on Tuesday, August 6 at 6 PM.  Become an 'armchair traveler' for the evening, and perhaps gain valuable information for future vacation destinations!  This is a free program, no registration necessary.

Local artist and Pitt-Bradford instructor, Rick Minard, is the consulting artist for a special mural that BAPL is undertaking.  This mural, consisting of 120 mini-pictures, will be pieced together to reveal  area landmarks. Be a part of this historic project.  All skill levels welcome. BAPL is collaborating with the McKean County SPCA for our Cat Cafe! Adults are invited to indulge in some quiet reading with cats and kittens who will love to curl up in a lap! Bring a favorite book, and enjoy the feline affection!  Special Note: children are invited to read quietly with an adult caregiver. Saturday, August 3, from 10AM - 12PM.

August is American Artist Appreciation Month, so we are putting the spotlight on American artist, Bob Ross!  During this special edition of Copy Cat, we will follow along with Bob and paint some 'happy trees.' Our group of hobbyists meet every Thursday, from 1 PM - 3 PM in the library's Community Room. Everyone is welcome - from beginner to expert. They share stories and patterns, and discover new techniques. Drop ins are always welcome, as well as hobbyists who embroider, tatt, cross stitch, and work with felt! Meet new friends and pick up a new hobby!

Join us on Wed., August 29 at 6PM. Registration is necessary. Play individually or as a team (4 ppl max). Only one person from each team needs to register.

Do you have some BASIC tech-related questions?  Then join us on Monday, August 12 or Monday, August 29 from 10AM - 12PM.  Library staff will attempt to answer your questions, then you can have time to practice your newly acquired skill during open lab time.  Staff will remain on hand should you have additional questions.

Join Erin Blitz from LIFE Northwest PA, as she shares a fun game of Jeopardy with retired individuals from our community on Thursday, August 29 at 11AM.  No registration necessary.

Students in grades 5 - 12 are invited to attend the library's annual Read-a-thon on Monday, August 5 from 10:30AM - 12:30PM. Participants will relax in the Teen Reading Lounge area and read for two hours. Refreshments will be provided and students will be given food coupons to a variety of local restaurants. Attendees will also earn tickets for every half hour they participate in the Read-a-thon. The tickets will enter them into a raffle to win a $25 gift card.

Marilla Nature Hike, will be held on August 12. Registered participants will board a school bus at BAPL at 9 AM and travel to Marilla Reservoir. Once there, students will be given a first-hand look at nature by Pitt-Bradford Biology professor, Dr. Mulcahy. The library will provide students with a few cameras to take photographs of nature during the hike. The event will finish with lunch at the library (12:15 PM Pizza) and Savannah Barr teaching students a simple method for developing their own black and white photographs. Preregistration is required and will be limited to twenty-five teen/tween students. The program will end at 2PM.

On Tuesday, August 20 club members will meet at 5PM.  Participants will discuss Throne of Glass.

Summer has flown and our special reading program, "Camping Adventures" will wrap up on Tuesday, August 13.  We will have groups for Preschool (birth - 5yrs.), K - 2nd grade, and 3 - 5 grade. Participants will be challenged to read every week and learn about nature while doing a variety of fun activities.  Join us for the last two sessions:  August 6 and August 13 at 11AM.
