Local artist and Pitt-Bradford instructor, Rick Minard, is the consulting artist for a special mural that BAPL is undertaking. This mural, consisting of 120 mini-pictures, will be pieced together to reveal area landmarks. Be a part of this historic project. All skill levels welcome. As this is an Adult Program we ask that participants are 15 yrs and older. Choose from four (4) dates to participate (August 1, 5, 8, and 12 ) at 6PM. Registration is necessary. BAPL is collaborating with the McKean County SPCA for our Cat Cafe! Adults are invited to indulge in some quiet reading with cats and kittens who will love to curl up in a lap! August is American Artist Appreciation Month, so we are putting the spotlight on American artist, Bob Ross! Students in grades 5 - 12 are invited to attend the library's annual Read-a-thon on Monday, August 5 from 10:30AM - 12:30PM. Participants will relax in the Teen Reading Lounge area and read for two hours. Refreshments will be provided and students will be given food coupons to a variety of local restaurants. Attendees will also earn tickets for every half hour they participate in the Read-a-thon. The tickets will enter them into a raffle to win a $25 gift card.

Marilla Nature Hike, will be held on August 12. Registered participants will board a school bus at BAPL at 9 AM and travel to Marilla Reservoir. Once there, students will be given a first-hand look at nature by Pitt-Bradford Biology professor, Dr. Mulcahy. The library will provide students with a few cameras to take photographs of nature during the hike. The event will finish with lunch at the library (12:15 PM Pizza) and Savannah Barr teaching students a simple method for developing their own black and white photographs. Preregistration is required and will be limited to twenty-five teen/tween students. The program will end at 2PM.

Summer has flown and our special reading program, "Camping Adventures" will wrap up on Tuesday, August 13. We will have groups for Preschool (birth - 5yrs.), K - 2nd grade, and 3 - 5 grade. Participants will be challenged to read every week and learn about nature while doing a variety of fun activities. Join us for the last two sessions: August 6 and August 13 at 11AM.
