| Welcome, New Chief Medical Officer!

Partners For Kids is pleased to welcome Gavin Baumgardner, DO, MHA, as our new chief medical officer (CMO). Dr. Baumgardner previously served as the vice president and national medical director for palliative care at Amedisys. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at OhioHealth, serving in a succession of leadership positions.
In his new role as CMO, Dr. Baumgardner will join Partners For Kids’ executive leadership team where he will use his experience, passion and clinical expertise to support our mission of delivering best outcomes for children throughout Ohio.

Last Day to Register for the Administrative Staff Retreat
The 7th annual Administrative Staff Retreat is intended for office leadership, office staff and those who are interested in professional development. It will be held in a hybrid format, so you can join in-person or virtually. The last day to register and receive a “swag box” is tomorrow, Friday, May 16. Modifiers Recognized by Ohio Medicaid Fee-For-Service (FFS)
The provider relations team can assist with credentialing and claims issues with the managed care plans. However, they cannot assist with Medicaid. The Ohio Department of Medicaid has many resources on their webpage to assist you. The recognized modifiers for fee-for-service are regularly updated.

Supporting Families with the Free Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)
Triple P offers free workshops to help parents and caregivers of children, ages 0 to 12. The program aims to reduce stress and boost confidence to help raise happy, successful kids. These sessions offer simple, practical strategies that can be adapted to fit each family’s values and beliefs. Be sure to share this free resource with your patient families!

May Population Health Meeting Packets
If your organization or practice is participating with a Partners For Kids’ quality improvement project, your coach provided a packet of information, resources and guides. All these documents are available on the Partners For Kids website. You can also filter and search for resources specifically for the West Region.
In addition, you can make a care navigation referral via the Dayton Children’s Hospital website or the printed form.

Resources from the May Behavioral Health Training
During the “Use of CBT to Treat Trauma Reactions” webinar, attendees learned how to apply CBT modules to clients presenting with trauma as well as how to create a trauma-informed work environment. Attendees also engaged in small group activities to learn how to apply skills learned during this training. Helpful tools and resources from the presentation are provided below:

Register for the Next Behavioral Health Training
The next behavioral health training will be on Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The course titled, “Cultural Considerations and Approaches to Safety and Mandated Reporting,” will teach attendees about how culture influences health beliefs and mental health services, and how to build trust and connection with refugee families. The course is worth three ethics CEs. Please register by Friday, June 6.

Get Started with the Behavioral Health Learning Library
This Mental Health Awareness Month, take your behavioral health education to the next level with the Behavioral Health Learning Library – a collection of free, on-demand courses for professionals! The courses teach evidence-based pediatric mental and behavioral health assessment and treatment that is specifically tailored for different professional practices, like nursing, social work, psychology, pharmacy and more.
