The Office of Global Engagement has been closely following the recent events in Iran. We write today to express our strong support for the Iranian community, including our students, staff, and faculty who have family and friends in Iran.
The violence and human rights violations we are witnessing against the citizens of Iran, especially women, are deeply concerning. And, by restricting access to the internet and isolating Iranian citizens from each other and the outside world, the Iranian government has created a barrier of communication, cutting off Iranian communities around the world from their families. We know this is a difficult and frightening time, further exacerbated by the lack of communication with loved ones in Iran.
To the Iranian community at the University of Mississippi, please know we are thinking of you. We stand ready to support you in this time of uncertainty. Below please find some resources on our campus. In addition, the offices within OGE are always available to you.
