Kumudu began his career in the telecommunications industry 21 years ago. Then three years ago, he joined a company where Protector has been deployed since 2014. In his current role as a Voice Engineer for that company, Kumudu is responsible for administering and maintaining the various components of his organization’s voice network, which includes Cisco BroadWorks servers, Oracle SBC (session border controllers), and fraud management. Kumudu first became acquainted with Equinox in 2021 due to his fraud management responsibilities. Kumudu uses Protector daily to check for and research violations. He describes the system’s usage history as its best feature and explains that “the graphical view gives me a very good idea of the call profile.”
In 2023, Kumudu attended his first Protector User Group Meeting (PUGM) in Nashville. During the event, he was able to meet Protector specialist Alex Vandyke in person after working with him (by phone, email, or remote login session) on Protector 11 implementation and related tasks. So, it’s not surprising that Kumudu said, “Meeting the team and learning about Protector 11’s features from them” was the most beneficial part of attending the educational event. In talking about his experience with Equinox Support, Kumudu points to “their promptness in responding to an issue and the training given by Christi” as what differentiates them from other vendors/suppliers.
Originally born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Kumudu moved to the United States when he was 29 years old. Today, he lives in Manalapan, New Jersey, with his wife of 20 years, along with their teenaged children (one girl and one boy) and a two-year old Golden Retriever. In his time outside work, Kumudu loves to garden and hike.
It’s a pleasure to have Kumudu in the Equinox family and Protector community. We are grateful for his friendship and support and look forward to seeing him at the next user group!
