Monitoring Domestic Traffic

Domestic arbitrage (aka domestic traffic pumping) is a form of network abuse that is often overlooked as a "real" contender. Kathy is an extraordinary member of the TeleLink family. In addition to her least cost routing work, she enjoys her time in an accomplished community orchestra, and is proud of her three daughters!
Establishing and growing customer relationships is our driving force at Equinox. That means we have the good fortune of meeting and working with most extraordinary people. To illustrate this point, the latest ‘Customer Spotlight’ shines on Kathy Himes

Kathy has been a member of the Equinox family since 2009 when she began using TeleLink. Kathy began her telecom career in college with a summer position at her current company. That initial position ultimately led to Kathy’s current role as Manager Least Cost Routing at the same company. That means she brings over four decades of telecommunications experience and knowledge to the TeleLink community.

In 2004, Kathy served as a switch planner when her colleague selected and deployed TeleLink. Kathy is now the main TeleLink contact at her company and is in the application daily. As part of her least cost routing (LCR) responsibilities, she uses TeleLink to create the files that are sent to their LCR system and in-house billing system. Kathy relies on TeleLink to make sure calls are billed—she interacts with financing, billing, and sales to determine appropriate charges and then ensures they are applied.

Kathy explains that “TeleLink offers many time-saving benefits. It gives us flexibility and automation we otherwise would not have. TeleLink provides easy access to CDRs and automatically outputs the records we need for billing and LCR functions. Additionally, we are currently implementing TeleLink’s routing assurance module and anticipate further automation of several tasks.”

“Equinox Support is great. I get personal, responsive help when I contact them. In particular, I typically talk to Eric, who quickly answers any question I ask. I trust him and the guidance he gives about the system.”

Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, Kathy still calls southwestern Ohio home and enjoys being there close to her family. Another constant in her life is making music—Kathy began playing flute in high school and is still doing so. In fact, her passion outside work is the community orchestra with whom she has performed and traveled for the past 25 years. The orchestra is quite accomplished and has played around the U.S., including in Central Park, the Tetons, and a Michigan music festival. Of course, Kathy’s greatest joy is her three daughters, now aged 18, 21, and 23. With a heart full of love and a secret stash of energy, Kathy adopted all three daughters when she was in her 40s and raised them as a single mom.

Kathy is an extraordinary person and valued member of the TeleLink family.
Equinox is grateful for the opportunity to know and work with Kathy!
