Tea Tasting: A Sip around the world. Oct 14th, 6:30 to 9:30pm @Armstrong Student Center Pavillion
Enjoy a Thursday evening, October 14 from 6:30-9:30pm in the Armstrong Pavilion, trying a variety of teas and other hot beverages from across the world prepared by fellow Miamians. Come try Abuelita Hot Chocolate, Maté, Masala Cha (Spicy Tea), Czar Nicolas II Black Tea, Sassafrass tea, Matcha Sencha, Biluochun Green Tea, Orange Puer Tea, Dried Lime and Mint Tea, Chrysanthemum Tea and more! 
Please note that face masks will be required at this event and that strategically spaced 'sip zones' will be used for participants to sample the different teas.
All are welcome to take a sip around the world!

Submit a photo or essay by October 15 to the International Education Week contest! Top photos and essays will be honored during International Education Week (IEW) with the award winners receiving prizes.  
Also, ISSS encourages all international students to take a moment to think of a staff member at Miami who has supported your experience here. We are looking for nominees for the the 2021 Donald Nelson Award for Outstanding International Student Support.

International Student Center Commemorative Opening . Oct 15th, 3:00-5:00 pm @ MacMillan Hall 017
Welcome all Miamians and members of the local community to the Commemorative Opening of the International Student Center! Come to the parking lot of MacMillan Hall on October 15 from 3-5pm for a variety of global snacks and treats; inside MacMillan Hall 017 there will be a photo booth, trivia contest, commemorative signing, ceremonial tree planting and opportunity to connect with Miami students, faculty, staff and administrators in the International Student Center. We hope to see you there!
Global Friendship Trip @Butterfield Farm. Oct 16th, 2:30-5:00pm. corn maze, hayride, bonfire, and more!
Join fellow Miamians from all over the world on a trip to Butterfield Farm for some classic American autumnal activities! 
Cost for the trip to Butterfield Farm is $8 and includes: transportation, bonfire, pumpkin carving station, hayride and/or corn maze. (Please note: Those interested in carving a pumpkin will need to purchase a pumpkin, $5-$10, on their own.) All activities are optional. This is a family friendly event; children/dependents of international students and scholars can participate for free.

Preparing to Graduate or Complete Your Academic Program?

International students planning to graduate in December or looking ahead to their final semester of study are encouraged to join a info session via Zoom in which ISSS staff will present information and answer questions about: 
  • Program completion vs. graduation
  • I-20/DS-2019 program end date updates and program extension issues
  • Grace period and options for after completing a program
  • Post-completion employment, health insurance coverage, and more

Spotlight
Come and support this important effort toward improving the emotional well-being of all of us here at Miami!  Attend meditation sessions, brief workshops on self-compassion and managing difficult emotions, trainings on how to help friends in distress, and bring your friends to a 5K walk to support suicide prevention.  See the Student Counseling Service website for more details on the events as well as the webpage for Suicide Prevention Resources.

  • Are you interested in reading a children's book from your home country to local kids? Join Global Storytelling at Mini U! The International Education Week Committee is looking for international students who would be interested in going to Mini University (the campus daycare and preschool) to read a story from your home country on Tuesday, November 16 from 10-11am. Interested students should reach out to Karla at guinigkm@miamioh.edu

  • Apply to be a part of the MUPD Student Advisory Board! The Miami University Police Department is looking for students to advise MUPD about matters related to police-student relations, community concerns, ways to engage students effectively, and open dialogue relative to the current social climate.
