February 2017
Dear Subscriber
If you missed out on the latest newsletters you can see them here.

In true February style, it has most definitely been warm of late with little to no rain, not good for our water supply as we are rapidly running out of drinking water. We continue to urge you to save water where you can and as often as you can. Cape Town is currently running on level 3B water restrictions; find out more about what exactly that entails by clicking here
We have fantastic prizes to give away in this month’s Norgarb lucky draw. Entry is free and all you need to do is answer 10 questions in the survey below. Thank you to VIVA! Mexican Restaurant & Bar and Twigs with Beans for their generous support of the prize vouchers.
As usual, we have some interesting and insightful articles contributed by local business owners. We are also happy to welcome three new contributors on board. All these articles can be found on our blog along with all previous articles from every newsletter that we have sent out.
Find out what new businesses have listed and if you suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out) be sure to check out our events section so that you don’t miss out.

Payments can be made via a monthly debit order or by SnapScan, click here to complete a Membership form and join this worthy cause.

Kenilworth Vet shares some explanations as to some dogs, particularly young dogs do this. Click here for the full story.
LOVE IT OR HATE IT - AIRBNB
‘AirBnB’, has very fast become a familiar term although triggering mixed emotions. STBB receive quite a number of queries regarding short term leasing of premises, particularly in a sectional title and homeowners’ association schemes (HOA) via the AirBnB online platform.  The concerns range from irritation and queries regarding legality thereof, on the one hand, to questions regarding SARS’ interest in the activity on the other.  If you do or are thinking about making use of 'AirBnB' to rent out a room, flat, house etc. then you need to read this first. STBB Claremont is always there to assist should you require legal advice.

THE REAL COST OF FALSE ALARMS
The HVCID has unfortunately again seen a steady increase of false alarms in the Village.
This is when an alarm system is triggered and activated by causes OTHER than a burglary, or an attempted burglary, or a panic button, or duress code activated with genuine intent.
Click here to find out why it is important to prevent false alarms, you could save a life.
