Speaker - Heather Quaas-Annsa
Heather Quaas-Annsa is the Co-Executive Director of Community Supported Shelters (CSS), where she provides strategic leadership for one of Lane County's largest providers of low-barrier transitional shelter, outreach, and housing navigation services for people experiencing homelessness. She oversees philanthropy, community engagement, organizational strategy, and external partnerships, working to expand access to shelter while advancing innovative, person-centered solutions to homelessness.

Heather also serves on the Lane County Poverty and Homelessness Board, where she collaborates with community partners to strengthen the region's homeless response system. A Lane County resident since 2006 and the proud parent of three teenagers, she is passionate about building communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Her work is grounded in the belief that lasting change happens through collaboration, dignity, and meaningful investment in people.

Congratulations to the Eugene After Hours Rotary Club
On July 14, President Patric Miller and members of the Southtowne Rotary Board of Directors presented a $1,000 check to the Eugene After Hours Rotary Club in support of its launch as a new Rotary club. The donation will help the club establish a strong foundation as it grows its membership and begins serving the community. Southtowne Rotary is proud to support this exciting new chapter and wishes the Eugene After Hours Rotary Club continued success.

Support for Hosea Cottages
One of our projects is supporting the Hosea Youth House. We are excited to share that the Hosea Youth House is making progress on their Hosea Cottages! Here’s a note from director, Brad Bills:

"Of the hundreds of different young people we serve each year (650 in 2025) there are so many who are ready and willing to take steps to move forward, but life on the streets is more about survival. And when you learn our young guests’ stories, you realize that so many grew up with no guidance, support and love, so being a functional member of our society is very difficult.
For several years we have been pursuing the possibility of creating a space where young people can be housed and provided the love, care, assistance and accountability they need to break the cycle of homelessness. They need much more than housing and addiction recovery; they need structured programming and a supportive community which will provide what they need to finally pursue lives of health and purpose!

We are now in an active campaign to create the Hosea Cottages! There will be 14 cottages and a common house. Residents will be required to maintain sobriety, work on addiction recovery as needed, work on mental and physical health, and begin to learn life-skills. Once stabilized, future goals will be established, and steps will be taken to pursue education and/or enter the workforce. Upon exit, they will have $ saved up, employment, a safe place to reside, and a mentor for continued support.
