- Auditions: Monday, April 3rd after school.
- Only students in grades 3-11 are eligible to participate.
- Acts must be school appropriate and must not exceed two minutes in length.
- Only students/acts who complete a registration form will be considered.
- NOCA is limited to 20 acts.
- Must complete permission slip by March 31st.

This month pizza orders and fees are due to your classroom teacher by 3/10.
- Payment must be exact change or a check made payable to NOCA

Please label payment with your student's name, purpose (pizza) and enclose it in an envelope or baggie.
- Pizza will be served on Friday 3/24.
- There will be no pizza orders processed after the deadline.

Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability.
So begins Sir Francis Bacon’s essay, “Of Studies.” As the father of the scientific method, he staunchly defended the use of inductive reasoning in the pursuit of knowledge. His Novum Organum (“new method”) marked a clear break with the Scholastic tradition. But, in “Of Studies”, he betrays an appreciation for the well-watered roots of classical education. I want to share with you some of my favorite insights from his essay.

Naviance
Students at NOCA have access to Naviance College and Career Readiness Planning software. Students in grades 9-11 have received instruction in Naviance navigation and have successfully logged in to their accounts. They are encouraged to continue to log-in and use this resource as they conduct research through self-discovery, college, career, and academic tools.

Service & Seals
NOCA high students must complete 96 hours of community service prior to graduation and complete an Ohio Means Job (OMJ) form. Juniors should have this form completed by the end of this school year.

Community Service Logs
All service hours need to be submitted by May 5 for the 2022-23 school year. Extra forms can be found on the Digital Resource Center or in the Counseling Corner.

Scheduling 2023-24
Students are encouraged to review their academic progress and begin conversations with their families about next steps for course selections for the 2023-24 school year. Students will have access to course requests and an updated course catalog on March 6.

| SAT College Entrance Exam
Per the state of Ohio, all juniors are entitled to one free college entrance exam at school during the school day. NOCA juniors will be taking the SAT on March 1. Juniors will be released immediately following the completion of the exam.

Academic/Career Advising
Mrs. Desmond has completed student meetings with all high school students. Students reviewed their transcripts, graduation pathways, and reviewed the results of their self discovery surveys. Students were advised about their recommended elective or graduation requirement options for their upcoming course selections.

| End of Course Exams
High school students in Ohio must take and pass End of Course exams in the subjects of Algebra I and English II in order to have a pathway to graduation. A minimum passing score is 684. Students who do not pass are given the opportunity to retest every semester. Please find practice tests by clicking on the button below. The next exams will be administered in March and April for students enrolled in Algebra I and British Literature.

College Campus Visits and Preview Days
High school students (especially juniors) are encouraged to begin setting up campus visits to aide in their discernment of the college of best fit. Be sure to pick-up a campus visit questionnaire in the counseling corner to get the most out of your visit.

College Credit Plus (CCP)
The College Credit Plus (CCP) program is a free early college option for students enrolled in grades 7-12 who are Ohio residents. Participants are required to attend a meeting and counseling session about the risks associated with participation in the program. Letter of Intents are due to Mrs. Desmond by April 1.

The yearbook store is still open. Get your 4th Edition Spartan Yearbook w/ Spring supplement ordered today at our Early Bird price of only $29.
