| Spotlight on Faculty Research
For our first edition of the new decade, the PMI grants team visited with Vivian Weiss, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Weiss is a multi-funded PI, with recent awards from American Thyroid Association, Children's Cancer Research Fund, V Foundation for Cancer Research, and American Cancer Society. Here, she shares thoughts on her current work and tips for funding acquisition.

| Spotlight on Fellow Research
Postdoctoral fellow William Beavers grew up in Middleburg, VA, near Washington, D.C. Following graduation from Old Dominion University he worked in the Blais Proteomics Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Currently in the Skaar lab, Dr. Beavers research focus is on how Staphylococcus aureus avoids killing by the human immune system.

New from NIH: FORMS- F
Applicants must use FORMS-F application packages for due dates on or after May 25, 2020 and must use FORMS-E application packages for due dates on or before May 24, 2020. NIH released a document outlining High-level changes in FORMS-F application packages. -Includes changes to the PHS assignment request form and some elements of Human Subjects and Clinical Trials information.

ORCID ID
For personnel who will be supported by an NIH training (T), fellowship (F), education, or career development (K) award in fiscal year (FY) 2020, an ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier) must be created and associated with respective eRA Commons Personal Profile. Starting with the January 25, 2020 receipt date, eRA COMMONS will check investigators applying for individual F and K awards.

Submission Deadline Reminder
Due to construction on the 5th floor, please plan to submit proposals transmitted via Coeus (NIH/DoD) no later than the morning of the deadline due date. We may experience intermittent power outages because of nearby construction and want to ensure no interference occurs with submissions during this time.

Additional Funding Opportunities
MMPC MICROMouse Program Pilot Research Projects $75K (total costs) for one year, to fund projects for scientist using mice to study diabetes and obesity. Applications are reviewed quaterly (March 1, June 1, Sept 1, and Dec 1). LOI due two weeks prior to submission of application.
