Richland Pediatrics Receives Quality Improvement Award
Richland Pediatrics received the “We Promote Health and Well-Being” Quality Improvement (QI) award for their dedication to improving the health of patients in their community. Through the years, Richland has completed several QI projects with Partners For Kids. Richland Pediatrics instituted a new reproductive health assessment allowing them to better assess the needs of their adolescent patients. The group used this success to springboard into a new reproductive health project; sexually transmitted infection screening. The whole staff at Richland Pediatrics, from registration to providers, radiates with energy and optimism about the work they do. All staff members are involved at QI meetings, allowing everyone to gain insight and contribute to the QI projects. In addition to their QI work, they strive to make their office an inclusive, equitable and safe space for all patients to discuss their reproductive health needs. Please join us in congratulating Richland Pediatrics!

Vyvanse® (lisdexamfetamine) Generics Now FDA Approved
Vyvanse® (lisdexamfetamine) is a stimulant medication used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), approved for use in patients 6 years of age and older. On August 28, the generic lisdexamfetamine was approved, and pharmacies are beginning to receive this product. For Ohio Medicaid patients, brand name Vyvanse® is the preferred option as of September 2023. Generic lisdexamfetamine will not be covered without a prior authorization. When issuing a prescription for Vyvanse® for Ohio Medicaid patients, prescribers can mark the prescription with Dispense As Written 9 (DAW 9). A DAW 9 code instructs the pharmacy that the patient’s insurance requests the brand name product over a generic. Using this code should prevent a pharmacy from automatically filling a generic product. For more information on the approval, see the FDA announcement here.
