A Note from Your Executive Director
It was a thrill for me participate in my first Washington Days event this past February, along with more than 450 people from across the nation – including 18 from right here in our Colorado Chapter. Going into the event, I was really inspired by the high number of our community members who dedicated this time to some long days and a lot of walking to advance issues important to the bleeding disorder community. But that inspiration paled in comparison to the excitement I felt as the days unfolded, as I saw families studying on issues and persuasively making the case to legislators – and doing it all TOGETHER. We ate our meals together, sat for meetings together, walked across Capital Hill together, and even did some off-hours sightseeing TOGETHER.
I couldn’t help but reflect on this feeling as we have confronted the COVID-19 virus over the past 2 months. This is a public health crisis the likes of which we’ve never seen, but I know we will succeed in this adversity TOGETHER. There is a lot we can’t control, but we can control how we strategize and adapt amid this new reality. We will be reaching out often to get your perspective, and we want you to know the Chapter is here for you. If you find yourself struggling, reach out to us. We have a wide range of resources that can help you in hard times, and it is important for us to play an active role in community wellness. Let’s use this experience to increase our communication and move forward more precisely and powerfully than before.
Together in health,
Perry Jowsey
