Dear Friends,
As we begin a new year and reflect on where we are now compared to last January, my heart is filled with gratitude for what the Lord has done.  Last year at this time I had been praying for several months for others to join me in praying if Young Life is meant to start in Johnson City.  God has blessed me with an amazing group of prayer warriors and grateful this circle continues to grow.  Can't tell you how much God has shown me through the power of prayer when others come together and lift our voices up to Him.  He is so GOOD and hears every word!
At this time last year I also was praying for a group of people who would take ownership of our Young Life ministry and help get the word out to get our community excited about the possibility of Johnson City having their very own club.  God blessed me with amazing people and their God given talents that I not only am blessed to call friends but have become family and grateful that circle of friends continues to grow as well.
God blessed us with having our first banquet, bringing together almost 200 people to hear about Jesus and witness almost 30 kids willing to serve without fully understanding why they were there.  I thank God from the bottom of my heart for these blessings and many others.  I know 2018 is going to be even more amazing, how?  "For the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard." Isaiah 52:12 NASB
As you know there are many ways one can serve within Young Life.  The story of the paralytic in Luke 5 is a beautiful picture of a strong Young Life Ministry.   When we all come together we can be more effective to make a difference in the lives of others.  The friends that each took a corner of the mat to bring their paralyzed friend to Jesus represents four very important elements of a well sustained Young Life Ministry; Committee, Leaders, Donors and Staff.  One of these elements that is at its weakest right now is leadership, we are in need of male leaders.  Our current leaders, myself and Kasey Smith have met with our Associate Regional Director, Aaron Collins and our committee to strategically plan out what this semester of Young Life will look like for the kids.  Leaders have begun contact work this week and will continue to invest their time in getting to know the kids at the high school.  But in order for us to be able to start club as planned next month we need more male leaders to take up the corner of the mat.  We feel it will be in the best interest of the kids if we wait and be able to minister to them all more effectively.
Won't you please join me in praying for God to reveal to the hearts of men He has already handpicked that they are needed to partner with us to reach out and enter the world of the teenagers at LBJ High School.  If you have someone in mind, or maybe it is yourself, that has a heart for Lord and a heart for kids to know the Lord, please don't hesitate to call me.
Thank you again for being our partner in Christ as we follow His leading to build His Kingdom together in His perfect timing.
"Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present. There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears." Philippians 1:3 The Message
