Keeping the Heart of YSU Beating for our first
SPRING HOMECOMING CELEBRATION
Homecoming Royalty. Build a Penguin. Fall Fire Fest. Marching Pride. Parade floats. Tailgating. Memories. Friends. Football. Y and Proud.
We all have different things that come to mind when we think of Homecoming at YSU. Despite the challenges that COVID has brought over the past year, we are grateful that we are able to honor the Homecoming traditions of Youngstown State—even though the festivities are happening a little bit later on the academic calendar than we are used to. This year we’ll celebrate Home Is Where Your Heart Is during the week of March 15, culminating with YSU’s football game on Saturday, March 20 at noon vs. South Dakota.
Faculty and staff can buy half price tickets through the Athletic Ticket Office! Ticket Office hours are 9am - 6pm Monday through Thursday.
Additional activities during Homecoming include an on-campus Drive In Movie on Thursday, March 18, Penguin Nights Virtual BINGO on Friday, March 19, and a Build-A-Penguin Lottery for students to win one of the coveted cuddly friends! For full details, please check out the Division of Student Affairs Calendar of Events and the YSU Homecoming Website.

One of the best ways for faculty and staff to be a part of our Home is Where Your Heart Is festivities is to participate in our
Annual Homecoming Office Decorating!
Show your spirit and this year, every department that enters will receive a voucher for a box of donuts and coffee from Dunkin Donuts on campus. The Spirit & Tradition Committee can't wait to see how creative our offices get!
Guidelines:
| |
- This is open to all YSU on-campus offices and departments, including contracted services, food areas, and residence hall front desks.
- Decorate your area (entry way, gathering area, cubicles, office doors, etc. All are encouraged). The Homecoming theme this year is "Home Is Where Your Heart Is", or you can decorate with an overall school spirit theme!
- Register by Monday, March 15th
- With your permission, your area will be photographed on either Thursday, March 18th or Friday, March 19th.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL GUINATHON! The year leading up to YSU's 2021 Dance Marathon was a roller coaster that no one expected. Because Guinathon's mission is to change kids' health, safety was a top priority when planning their Dance Marathon this year. Instead of an 8-hour long event on a Saturday, Guinathon put together a weeklong event that incorporated many aspects of a traditional Dance Marathon. Throughout the week Guinathon held events such their opening ceremonies, family feud, and morale dance session over zoom, and shared miracle family stories and even a pie in the face fundraiser on social media. On Saturday they held a drive-in style final reveal to showcase and celebrate their total funds raised for Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley— $55,764.49. Guinathon would like to thank the YSU and Youngstown community for uniting to change kids' health, and change the future, even during this unprecedented year.
