Help Wheat Ridge Conserve Water and Make a Pledge

Mayor Bud Starker and the City of Wheat Ridge are excited to join the Wyland's National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation for the first time this year!
Water conservation is a key component of creating a sustainable, healthy future, and is a goal we can all work towards together to protect this valuable resource.

The challenge is open from April 1 –  April 30. Winning cities have the chance to win prizes for schools and to make a charitable donation, and residents are eligible to win hundreds of prizes such as irrigation smart controllers, gift cards, and many more!

Youngfield Logo
The Youngfield Street Beautification project will identify and implement aesthetic improvements along Youngfield Street between 30th and 40th Avenues, focusing on the area between Youngfield Street and I-70. Aesthetic improvements will offer a welcoming gateway to the City of Wheat Ridge, beautify the corridor, and create spaces that will not only reflect our community values but will also instill pride in our city. You can share your vision for making Youngfield Street more vibrant by taking the online survey. The survey closes at the end of the day on April 3, so get your feedback in now! 
44th Avenue Subarea Plan Logo

44th Avenue Subarea Plan: Upcoming Adoption 

The 44th Avenue Subarea Plan will combine public input with technical analysis to establish a long-range vision for W 44th Avenue and surrounding areas between Clear Creek and I-70. 
The final plan document will go to planning commission and city council adoption hearings on April 6 and April 24 respectively. Stay tuned to the project page for final opportunities to weigh in.

Wheat Ridge Hazardous Tree Grant Program

Applications for the 2023 Hazardous Tree Grant Program are now open! This Hazardous Tree Services Grant Program provides aid to Wheat Ridge residents for assessment, removal, pruning, or treatment of hazard trees, which qualify by posing significant risk. A reimbursement of 50% up to $1,500 for removal, 50% up to $1,000 for pruning (for hazard or health), OR 50% up to $500 for treatment (for hazard or health) may be awarded. Trees interfering with utilities such as power lines will not be considered, you will need to contact the utility companies for assistance with those trees. Trees and limbs recently damaged by a weather event (storm damage) will not be considered. Stump removal is not included in the grant program and is a separate cost incurred by the property owner. Applications will be accepted till all funds have been awarded or until Monday, Sept. 4, whichever occurs first.


This Hazardous Tree Grant is only available to City of Wheat Ridge residential and commercial property owners, one tree per property with the exception of tree treatments. Learn more and apply today!

Large Item Pick-up Program Returns

The City of Wheat Ridge is excited to share that the Large Item Pick-up Program is back for 2023!
The Large Item Pick-up Program is a free service that assists Wheat Ridge residents in getting rid of items that do not fit in typical garbage cans and/or can only be disposed of at an additional cost through your garbage service provider.

If you have an item you would like to get rid of be sure to read through ALL of the information on the Large Item Pick-up page to see if you are eligible.

Online registration is open. Telephone registration begins April 3. Telephone registration hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration ends Friday, April 28, 2023 or when capacity has been reached, whichever comes first.

Resident Feedback Wanted for Wheat Ridge Neighborhoods

Residents of North I-70 and of Lutheran/Crown Hill neighborhoods can share their thoughts on what they love about where they live and what could be improved by taking an online survey or attending an upcoming event. 

Tuesday, April 25 at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center (4005 Kipling Street) from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Mental Health and Wellness Series

The City of Wheat Ridge has partnered with Jefferson Center for Mental Health (JCMH) to provide the community with resources to better understand mental health issues and how to help someone who may be struggling. If you are interested in learning more about mental health, please join the City of Wheat Ridge and JCMH for the trainings listed below at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center located at 4005 Kipling St. To register click here.
