Renee Watling, professor and director of the School of Occupational Therapy, has lived in Washington her entire life and spent 20 years as a practicing occupational therapist before taking the leap into teaching. She uses her clinical experience in pediatric neurodevelopment and her longstanding research into OT interventions for autism to help aspiring occupational therapists become confident practitioners. We recently sat down with Professor Watling to learn more about OT, her current research, and what students get out of the program.

In December, School of Music Jazz Director Jeff Chang was honored with the William P. Foster Community Development Award at The Midwest Clinic for his work in the South Sound community. This award honors select educators who provide strong music education experiences for their students and a positive impact on their school and community. Chang was one of only 75 educators nominated nationwide and recognized for his outstanding work as the Band Director at Decatur High School in Federal Way, Washington.
The Dr. William P. Foster Project is a collaboration among the Music Education Alliance, National Band Association, College Band Directors National Association, and Music for All. It recognizes quality band programs, teaching excellence, and community impact in historically underserved communities.

The University of Puget Sound swim teams capped off the 2025 Northwest Conference (NWC) Championships with standout performances at the King County Aquatic Center. Several Loggers secured top finishes, with Trinity Link ’28 claiming the conference title with a 52.57-second finish in the women's 100-yard freestyle event.

Campus and community members gathered in Rasmussen Rotunda to watch a screening of the documentary Removed By Force: The Eviction of Hawai`i's Japanese Americans During WWII, which chronicles the experiences of 1,500 Americans of Japanese ancestry who were forced out of their homes in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor. After the film, the audience engaged in a Q&A session with producer and Puget Sound alumnus Bill Kaneko ’83, Hon.’03 and director Ryan Kawamoto. The event was sponsored by the Office of Institutional Equity & Diversity in honor of Japanese American Day of Remembrance.
