Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:
In an effort to document this unprecedented time in our history, the staff of University Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections has launched the COVID-19 Pandemic Project.
As Dean of University Libraries, I encourage Ball State faculty, staff, and students to consider participating in this project, which represents the Libraries’ efforts to preserve the campus community’s experience of this historic event.
Participants are welcome to submit a wide variety of records, including typed or handwritten reflections, poems, writings, artwork, drawings, photographs, and videos as a means for us to collect and record what was witnessed and experienced during this global health crisis.
Like all of you, I look forward to the coming academic year and to the return of a traditional, on-campus experience for all of us. But even as the pandemic subsides, I believe it is important for us to continue to reflect on the strength, resilience, and innovation of our community—which I’m sure will be of great interest to future Cardinals, historians, and researchers.
Content submitted to the University Libraries Archives and Special Collections will be added to the Stoeckel Archive of Local History Collection and made available through the Libraries’ Digital Media Repository. There is no deadline for submissions. If you are interested in contributing to the COVID-19 Pandemic Project, visit the project's web page.
Anyone who wishes to donate physical material or has additional questions, please email Head of Archives User Engagement Sarah M. Allison at smallison@bsu.edu.
Archives and Special Collections preserves and provides access to more than 1.5 million rare and unique archival materials of enduring research value. Collections are accessible to all researchers and the general public.
Thank you for your consideration of this request and for your patronage of University Libraries.
