Happy first day of Fall, I hope you all are doing well this week so far! Next Monday is the official first day of classes at Evergreen and we know you all are working hard to make preparations. Kris and I have enjoyed welcoming many of you to Evergreen through last weekend's Orientation and this week's walking tours of campus and are excited to meet more of you in person in the coming weeks. Campus Dining Service Hours
As we make our way back to campus next week, we wanted to let you all know of the food options that will be available on campus. Please find below, the food service resources and their hours of opperation.
Greenery in the CAB*: (Starting with Brunch and dinner on Thursday and Friday September 23 and September 24)
Monday-Friday: Breakfast 8:00am-9:00am, Lunch 11:00am-2:00pm, Dinner 5:00pm-7:00pm Saturday-Sunday: Brunch 11:00am-2:00pm, Dinner 5:00pm-7:00pm *In person dining and grab and go options available

Graduate Writing Assistant Positions

Are you a graduate student who has strong critical thinking, organization, and writing skills? Are you looking for paid part-time work that will improve your editing and teaching skills?
The graduate programs (Master in Teaching, Master of Environmental Studies, Master of Public Administration) are seeking Writing Assistants for fall, winter, and spring quarters of the 2020-2021 academic year. The person in this position will assist students in one or more of these programs in improving their writing and analytical skills. This requires meeting with students individually or in groups to work on editing, structure, grammar, and tone of their writing, as well as the quality of their arguments and analysis. Most work will be done remotely via Zoom or phone, with the possibility of some in-person meetings with students.
Qualifications:
This position is open to Evergreen graduate students, with preference given to students who have completed at least the first year of coursework in their program. A successful applicant must have solid working knowledge of grammar, argumentative structure, and the ability to provide feedback on diverse genres of graduate-level writing. While knowledge of the subject area in each graduate program will be considered in specific assignments, demonstrated teaching and/or academic writing skills or potential are most important. Successful applicants must have some flexibility about scheduling office hours, including some late afternoons, evenings, or weekends. Student employees must adhere to the College’s policies on student employment and not work more than 19 hours per week in on-campus student employment.

MES Walking Tours of Evergreen's Olympia Campus
We have two more walking tours on Friday available for students to sign up for so please feel free to join us at the end of this week for a tour of Evergreen's Olympia Campus! The tours are hosted by Kris Hill, our Outreach and Communications Assistant, and I for all students in MES! We know that many of you have never been to Evergreen or have had limited experiences on campus during your time in the program, and we wanted to provide opportunities to help you all get acquainted with the offices on campus, and locations of important spaces such as the library, bookstore, classrooms, and the MES Office wing. Please feel free to register for a walking tour at one of the scheduled times listed on our Eventbrite registration page!

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Scholarships for Grad Students
Our Graduation Office at Evergreen recommended a great resource for graduate student scholarship opportunities. There are many scholarships currently available with ESA so please keep reading to learn more!
ESA is committed to helping future generations achieve their goals for higher education. Annually, the ESA Foundation awards a number of scholarships to college students – not just ESA members – with diverse backgrounds and interests.
All students are encouraged to apply for these college scholarships. Deserving applicants are judged on the criteria of character, leadership, service, financial need, and scholastic ability. College awards range up to $3,000, and a graduate studies scholarship is available for $7,500.

Evergreen Pop-up Food BankThe Evergreen Pop-up Food bank is available the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.

We follow COVID safety protocols, so please wear a mask. Vegan options are available.
Other food options on campus:
The Food Pantry has moved from Police Services to the Housing Community Center, and is accessible to students living on and off campus.
The Hungry Greener Program allows students in campus housing to apply for a limited number of free meals in the Greenery, or in their rooms if they are in isolation or quarantine. Apply to receive meals or donate meals.
