A Sizzling Success
Despite a rainy start to the day and many no-shows for the run, the final Sizzler raised more than $12,000.00 for the Humane Society. It was a cooler and more relaxed event this year and everyone who attended, both volunteers and runners alike, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We would like to thank Dr. Hobson Fulmer, Veterinarian extraordinaire, for his 20 yrs of service to this event.  He founded the Sizzler and his guidance through the years is responsible for the success of the event.
Of course none of it would have been possible without the dozens of volunteers who turned out yearly to help with everything from food, to music, to set up and break down.  To each of you, we thank you for your time, energy, and dedication.
The sizzler has run it's course.  The final race is in the record books but we will all, with the help of all of you, continue to work hard for the animals of this community to provide safe haven, medical care, food and loving attention until our pets are adopted.

Freddie a.k.a. Green Eyes
Freddie was brought to us by Animal Control via a call for help by a concerned citizen.  Freddie is suffering from severe mange, secondary bacterial infection, malnourishment and intestinal parasites.  His physical condition was heartbreaking and although we could tell he was miserable, felt horrible and was exhausted, his sweet nature shined through.
After his initial treatment, first bowl of real, nutritious puppy food replete with vitamins, we tucked him in for the night.  He fell fast asleep and honestly, didn't budge.  We have never seen a puppy sleep so soundly
Freddie has been with us for about a week and a half and already we see tremendous improvement.  He is gaining weight, his skin is no longer bright pink and his limbs are no longer swollen.  He is playful and feeling good.  He still has a way to go before he looks as good as he feels because it will take time for his fur to grow back but we are encouraged by his daily improvements.
If you would like to donate toward his care you can go to our website: forgottenpets.org, click on help and use our paypal account to send a contribution or simply mail a check to: 244 Hwy 65, Eastpoint, FL 32328.  Thanks in advance!
